On from Marseille to Nimes, and surely the best chance yet for nearly-man Michael van Stayen to take a stage, with that uphill finish. Clearly Sam Bewley will still be hard to beat - and can they even catch the breakaway?

Their lead lies at just 1'30 at 23km to go, but as ever, the peloton find that last gap the hardest to catch. Still they lead inside the final 10km - although only by 30 seconds this time.

Merino Criado kinda blocks the line of Swift, Van Stayen, Guerao, Guarnieri, Vanderbiest and Lo Cicero as the Dutchman launches himself.

Degenkolb is fastest of those 3 as he closes in on Guerao, Vanderbiest and Lo Cicero - who are unable to follow Swift and Van Stayen as they move forwards.

2nd for pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/bec.png Bewley, a strong recovery from poor positioning to make a 20 point gain on Pluchkin, who opted not to sprint today. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/gde.png Guarnieri rounds out the podium.

4th for pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pok2.png Degenkolb while Vesuvio takes 5th and 7th with Swift and Van der Lijke - Kristoff in between them. Top 10 positions for Zabel, Kreder and Vanderbiest, Lo Cicero only just missing out!

Vesely and Guerao completed the Top 13, with a 35 second gap awarded between them and the rest of the peloton. That doesn't affect the GC in any way although Amador was close.
