The first mountain stage! It's not the hardest of the race, but could still cause gaps. The descent to Les Estables hardly leaves time for riders to recover if dropped on the climb itself.

Most of the breakaway are around 6 minutes down on GC already, but two are not. Greek champion Kastrantas, and also GT breakaway lover pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/tcs.png Zakarin. The Russian is best placed to move into the overall lead, should the break stay away. He wins both intermediate sprints, and with the lead up to 12 minutes, it's looking promising.

There's just one problem. His own team are chasing! They don't have Kritskiy or Trofimov here so it doesnt make a lot of sense, but Russian champion pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/tcs.png Nikita Novikov is there on the front of the peloton working hard to cut the gap. Maybe the Russians don't want Yellow?

Pomoshnikov and Belkov continued Novikov's work, such that by the foot of the big HC climb, only 91 riders are left in the peloton, and the break lead by just 2 minutes. Swisscom, Metinvest and Bouygues now take over pace setting.

Taaramae has cut the gap to 40 seconds as he comes across solo. Alarcon and Amador are 20 seconds later with Henao Montoya clinging on. Add 20 seconds for Sicard and Dombrowski, and closing up on them are Uran, Martin and Monsalve.

Henao Montoya was just dropped over the top and lost ground on the descent to finish at 1'32 - at least making up some ground on everyone else after his time lost on the previous stage.

Sicard, Uran, Dombrowski, Martin and Monsalve came together on the descent to finish at 1'46. This also puts Dombrowski into the White jersey lead.

Velits' group ends at 2'55. Lecuisinier remains 2nd in that U25 competition - once again overtaking the former leader, to be beaten by someone else.

Pendleton's take the Teams classification lead, with Siutsou and Kennaugh supporting Dombrowski.
