Noninjured rider needs to much energy after crash

Hi guys, searched the forum but didn't find anything on this.
I'm currently playing the Giro in Career Mode with Movistar and Qunitana crashed while being in the Maglia Rosa. He didn't get injured but lost a lot of time.
But on the following stages, his heart rate goes insane, he needs for example more than the rider protecting him, even though he's in top form and is not! injured.
I'm currently at satge 12 and i'd really like to go for some stage wins with him in the mountains, so my question is, will he ride normal again after a while or should I withdraw him?
