Vuelta a España - Stage 21

Last day in Spain as we conclude the Vuelta a Espana 2015 with a 42km timetrial around Alcalá de Henares.. Phinney unfortunatelly had to quit the race yesterday, so we're searching for a new TT-winner here.

Gesink, Kritskiy and Tenorio as the most promising riders. Gesink fighting for his podium in the GC.

The fight for the last Top-10 spot ain't exactly thrilling, but in case someone as a very special day, we may see a surprising move here:

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/vwa.png Monsalve (GC's 11th) and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ozc.png Pozzovivo (10th) are seperated by more than a minute in the GC.. let's keep it short now: they perform on the very same level today, finishing with exactly the same time (over a minute slower than Laengen)!

For pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/tcs.png Kritskiy it's all about the stage and he crushes the earlier competition for the new lead:

beating Laengen by 43 seconds!

GC's 7th pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/mei.png Cunego (+ 8.17) and 6th pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sui.png Amador (+ 7.52) won't fight for the stage, but with Cunego looking quite good today, this may become a close one for the GC:

Cunego is ahead of Amador at both splits and indeed finishes the stage almost twenty seconds faster:

+ 1'05" on Kritskiy and therefore half a minute slower than Cunego!

he's at least setting the new best split time #2 - just a second faster than Kritskiy though!

Gesink though does even better and crosses both splits about 10 seconds ahead of his compatriot!

The GC-leader will finish the stage as 5th, 19 seconds behind Kritskiy - but who will take the stage?

Dekker finished 5" behind Kritskiy..

Now Gesink, who will easily hold off Dekker in the GC:

new best time! Just 4 seconds faster than Kritskiy!

Tenorio.. he's going for a slightly better final sector than Gesink, but:

+ 6" as 3rd on the stage!

So it's a stage-win for pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pro.png Gesink - four rider finishing within 10 seconds speaks for itself though! A thrilling TT, even though we didn't see too many thrilling GC fights today.
