Another quite mountainous hilly stage, though with a more or less flat final third of the route. The uphill finish ain't too steep, but surely offers a chance to create gaps.

Pluchkin looking dominating in the past few days, where Tenorio lost about four minutes. Strong puncheurs like Gesink and Cunego will (again) aim for this nice chance today.

Chamorro as some kind of a little sensation in this Vuelta: 9 points in the KoM competition, but attacking for any single point whenever possible!

Contador (28) and Warbasse (24) collect the most points, but no one will be a threat for the KoM rankings anyway. We're jumping straight into the final 10km now:

The peloton (led by Metinvest, Orange and Project 1t4i) is just 50" behind the breakaway, that goes into pieces with Contador and Ignatenko attacking! Warbasse struggling to follow and all other escapees are swallowed by the pack..

Group Pluchkin now 30" in arrears and the race-leader himself is pacing at the front! All other GC-contenders like Phinney, Monsalve, Abal, Kritskiy,or Lecuisinier right behind him..

Cunego holding on to a small gap with 1.5km to go! Contador couldn't follow, but he's inside the 7-men-group with Gesink and Tenorio..

Ignatenko now dropped and group Pluchkin couldn't narrow the gap yet..

Cunego and the chasing group already inside the final kilometre and Pluchkin is likely to lose some seconds today: 45" disadvantage for his group at this point!

Phinney

A minute lost on Tenorio. No disaster, but maybe a sign of weakness anyway?

With one tough mountain stage and the concluding timetrial to come, Pluchkin leads by 2'23" on Tenorio, who bounced back from his losses today. Amador, Gesink and Dekker with a thrilling fight for the final podium spot.

Cunego cementing his 7th in the GC, Pozzovivo gaining some valuable time on Kristkiy, who's the stronger TTler of course. Contador moving up to 18th place.
