Olympic Road Race 2016
wielerliefhebbert
Does somebody know when the Olympic Road Race in Rio de Janeiro will be added to the stage database? It's one year to go and now that we've seen the Test Event I'm sure there are more people who want to play with this stage!

The Olympic Road race doesn't feature in PCM. And it's impossible (i think) for the database makers, to make it happend. And Cyanide have yet to register it to the game.

So no Olympics Sad

It´s possible creat a Race in 29 february? So it would only perform once in 4 years 4

But 29 february isn't even close to the olympic date + who would be in shape in that time of the season Grin

The best thing to make the Olympic Games to appear in your game every 4 years is to edit the save game file and add it for the year of the Olympic's (2016), and then remove it from 2017.

The original question wasn't so much about implementing it into career I don't think, more about when the race was going to actually be made - like how I have in the past made the 2008 and 2012 Olympic road race routes.

The main issue with making the stage is that Rio is not covered by the .DEM files, so the race can't be made by GPX as most races are made. This makes it much harder to create a realistic route.

I wasn't thinking of implementing it into a career. If someone can make this stage so we can play it in single race, I think most people are happy. I'm not that concerned about the right place of, for instance, the Christ the Redeemer statue. Only the roads are enough if it's up to me.

What SN meant with missing DEM files, is that those files are necessary for the landscape. So hills and mountains.

If there are no DEM files, the stage maker needs to do it manually, which results in no perfect terrain and often wrong lengths, slopes etc.

The statue, towns etc. is just bonus then. The route itself is the difficult part for this race.

Nope, the stage editor needs the DEM files to be able to load the GPX files

And it isn't possible to make the stage as if it's a race in Portugal or somewhere else? I just want to play the stage, it doesn't need to win a Turner Prize for best visual arts or something like that Wink

You still don't quite get it. It's not realism in terms of graphics that is the issue, but realism in terms of route profile.

However, I've had a play around with the stage editor for a bit this evening, and am making good progress on the Rio route Wink
