I´ve now tried to play the TdF a couple of times with different teams, and some how its completely impossible to take control of a race without making my team exploed.
I tried with Tinkoff-Saxo going with Majka, Kreuziger and Contador at 75% uphill after 7K non of them are able to make an attack, because that bar is empty...?
Tried the same with Sky going with Roche, Poels, Porte, Nieve, Kennaugh and Froome on 80% and after 5K uphill the are all "dead" - I even tried it on the easiest level...
I played the game for several years - didn´t buy it last year, but have the really made it this hard to play and have a chance on winning..?
Contador finished 9th in the Tour - eventhough he was in great shape he couldn´t follow Froome, Nibali, van Garderen, Pinot, Valverde, Quintana, Bardet and Rodriguez on any of the uphill stages..?
Am I doing it wrong - doing it like I have always done..? |

It's hard to say. Personally i haven't had issues with the MO gameplay. Do you protect Contador with a helper when climbing?
Like when it's time for the favorites to go hard, do you put fx. Majka on him to protect? Cause that will help him saving energy |

I always protect my captain during the whole stage until the final, but it doesn´t help in the mountains if I put my team in front of the peloton to pull, then all riders loose energy to breakaway, so I can only go defensive every time, and hope the other teams doesn´t pull to hard, and the other favorites doesn´t attack |

There's a new system in PCM 15 regarding the yellow bar, where it starts to drop at 140 Heart Rate instead of 160 like in previous versions.
This means that your effort needs to be lowered compared to previous versions, I only go above 80 rarely now to try and drop riders or make an acceleration towards the finish, otherwise in the low 70s. |

Well. It could be because you are trying to follow accelerations with riders. If you have someone with low ACC he will literally die if he tries to follow Contador when he goes full gas. So if you are doing this, stop - And try to pace your way back up to him instead.
Can't really give you much better advice, since i have a hard time visualising your problem |

With this version I don't have any problems w/ MO or HI stages. But I rarely attack on a Mountain stage, just be sure you don't over exert your captain. I just put his exert at around 50-60 during the first part of the race, then went to 70-80 when the pace goes up.
I always race like Tejay Van Garderen in real life, never attack on the mountain just maintain a high pace and everyone drops out even my teammates.

I have no problems either. I just always protect my captain, and make sure im always in front of the peloton. Then i just put a good climber to protect my captain and dot 80, and then just up the effort a bit, and when he runs out of energy i go dot 80-90 with my captain.
Just make sure you can't follow every attack. Specially riders like Quintana and Contador, they have pretty high acc and just fly up the mountain, its pretty hard to follow them sometimes. But if you just remember to sit in the front when the mountain starts you should be able to follow, sometimes if you pace at the beginning of a mountain the favorites have problems keeping up with you, and they use energy to get back to the front, and you should have an advantage over them sometimes. I tried some stages where i dropped Froome and Quintana because they used too much energy getting back to the front grp |

Never had these problems either but as most people have said always protect your leader and main helper till the final climb or penultimate climb depending how the race unfolds. I find the energy bars to be pretty good with my riders even when they're riding 75 for example on effort.
An important question though, before the main climbs your best riders should be near the front of the peloton, because if they're not they'll burn so much energy trying to move up
As mentioned though you should never 'follow attacks' by other riders as that really does drain your bar and is lethal to do, works well on hills but not on mountains. Always chase on effort with your leader and if you have teammates still use them as well.
The trick to riding mountain stages, is in the preparation before the main climbing starts. For example your riders should be near the front, have water and you know your tactics as well and the most important react when your main rivals do if your applying a defensive strategy, because if you leave it too long you'll burn loads of energy catching up.
I play on hard and the results are realistic. |

Always use the dot on the mountain slopes and watch your heartbeat. You can see that at some points, 50 dot is enough to hold near the front of the pack, sometimes when group accelerates, you need to go 65-70 and usually on MTF the likes of Quintana goes so crazy fast that you have to go 75-85 if you have a rider capable to hold that tempo. It needs a lot of your attention to master this system, but you cant really loose if you have a strong rider.
Of course all other advices from the people above are also valid, always protect your main guy, as long as you can.

Some here around are satisfied with the new system or am I wrong?
This new system is unnecessary and completely destroys all the fun for the game.
Why do we got that new energy consumption with yellow starting to decrease on a heartrate of around 140 beats?
You always have to ride passive and if you just try attacking you will pay for it. It doesn't matter how good you are. Reacting on the attack of the big guys is poison. But the same goes for not attacking and trying to come back with high effort, if you even come back. I also want to fight on high levels, but not praying for my energy, that it won't be empty far before the finish line.
Also I got the feeling my riders are not creating enough power when going on an attack or full dot. The AI riders react quicker, faster and sometimes come up with unusual high speeds and acceleration.
Just some things I saw: Kristoff came from the back of the peloton with 80 km/h some guys following even came up to 89 km/h on flats!!
But more interesting weak riders like E. Young came up with speed of 71 km/h on lightly uphill grades. What's going on with this gameplay?
This makes no fun when you see the AI just doing what they want without any consequences.
Following riders is impossible for my riders even if I'm behind the wheel they losing ground and feel of with no energy left. And I know what I do. It's not like I try to beat Froome with a 68 Mountain stat rider.
Also not to forget the riders falling back are sometimes blocking you and you can lose a lot of ground. This also happens when you in front and a pacemaker is falling back. Just to mention it. |

Well, i am satisfied, because some earlier editions were so easy that i was winning left and right on extreme even with weaker riders, just by dotting.
Now i dont have a problem (on hard) to stay with Quintana at Tour (85MO,80ACC) with my Be a Pro who is 83MO, 69ACC. So i am not sure if the problem is completely a new PCM system.
You just have to shred what you are used to with earlier editions and learn few new tricks.

Of course i cant follow attacks of Quintana, he would kill me with his acceleration. I am just pulling an Ullrich/Basso and ride back to his wheel.

I'm not playing Be a Pro, but maybe the system is focused on it.
But if I dot I never come back.

Strange, i think that in carrer mode it is even a bit more easier in mountain stages, if you have a decnt team. Because you can control all riders and thus effectively protect your main guy, which is something that AI controlled teammates in Be a Pro struggle with a lot.
It is all about practise and attention, if you will keep trying, you will improve mate. As you see, majority is not having these issues on such a scale.
