The first of three ITTs and it's a true chance for the specialists to gain valuable seconds/minutes: 49km in total, we should expect some notable gaps today.

Phinney as the clear favorite, with guys like Gesink, Tenorio, Kritskiy, Pluchkin and Dekker capable of pulling a great result, too.. pure TTlers like Viennet may hope to score a nice stage-result as well.

Viennet with an early start and setting the first notable best time, beating other strong chronomen like Vlatos..

Martin came close at the split times, but has to settle for a 2nd place so far: + 13" on Viennet.

Laengen (GC's 43rd) as the so far best of those, who hadn't lost minutes in the previous days:

+ 16" as provisional 3rd on the stage, beating riders like Izagirre, Vlatos, Dees or Fraile!

Let's now focus on the big GC-guns though: with only Cunego gaining a few seconds in the GC so far, we will look at the finishing times only..

Dekker crushed Viennet's split times and also went for the new leading time at the finish:

31 seconds faster than Viennet, this could put some pressure on his GC-rivals..

Abal looked already super-strong at the half time split and the Spaniard indeed crushes Dekker's best time at the finish:

41 seconds faster and wow, what a performance for his wildcard team Buff!

Tenorio as next in line and even though he's missing out on Abal's time, he clearly did better than Dekker today:

+ 19" as new 2nd at the finish..

Gesink next and he performs at the same level as his compatriot Dekker:

+ 46" on Abal, who definitely delivered big time!

And now

Phinney, who's the clear favorite and under pressure to take benefit from the long timetrials here.. The TT world champion looks strong today, setting new best times at the splits and at the finish, too:

1'06" faster than Abal and therefore 1'25" ahead of Tenorio and 1'52" faster than Gesink!

Amador as another Top-5 contender for both the stage and the GC:

+ 1'43" as provisional 4th behind Phinney, Abal and Tenorio!

Pluchkin as the last threat for the stage and some pressure to deliver. He struggles to compete with the very best today though:

+ 2'22" as 8th on the stage! Quite a loss against Phinney and also Tenorio was a minute faster..

Cunego might have expected to not fight for the GC-lead:

+ 3'17" as still a solid 17th on the stage..

And that's of course the GC-lead for Phinney. Quite some huge gaps and the big favorite lived up to his role.

Abal extraordinary strong as new 2nd in the GC, with Tenorio, Amador, Dekker, Gesink and Pluchkin on the further positions. Laengen as today's big winner, jumping on 8th place ahead of Cunego and a strong Popkov.
