Where did all the breakaways go?!
david13
I have had PCM2015 since late june and I have never seen a breakaway survive if I am not in the leaders jersey (I control the pace of the peloton).
In other versions pcm12,13 breakaways were let off the leash on certain stages sometimes a bit boring after a while, but suddenly in pcm15 there are just no succesfull breakaways, is it just me or are more people having the same problem because it can make the game a bit dull

Haven't played PCM15 too much, but I just played a GT and noticed only two breakaway wins (pretty close ones). So I assume Cyanide went from one extreme (too many) to another (too less succesfull breakaways) again.

You may browse the general PCM15 thread though Wink I'm pretty sure you will find more experiences there.

I have played the game since release and i have experienced a lot of breakaways that have been able to "survive" all the way to the finishing line.

When I simulate, some specific stages are won by breakaway by 7+ minutes. (Mountain Stages)

But in 3D, it doesnt happen alot.

*Execpt when you have a leaders jersey in a Mountain stage, you set the pace of the peloton. You might set the pace slow and make the break win. (I did with Astana in Giro)

I have noticed the opposite. Quite a few breaks seem to win, normally by a minute or so. Have not got to any GT though. This is in 3D mode

In Grand Tours, i tend to get successful breakaways towards the 3rd week as teams get tired and GC leaders don't bother chasing guys that are far off in the GC. I've even had a couple of race-turning breakaways in the 3rd week of GTs where a guy who was 20mins+ down on GC ends up getting on to the podium thanks to an epic breakaway Smile

Changes to the energy system in pcm15 gives attackers less advantage.
And changes like riders attacking from 3 km for a mountain sprint(used to be 2) are totally absurd.
But as my "pro" isn't allowed to get breakaway cos of a lowly flat 73 I would be frustrating to see many breakaways win.

Playing Be A Pro mode, and breakaways seems to win pretty often. Specially in the lower racers (Continental), but in World Tour the peloton sometimes close the gaps extremely fast, most often on sprint stages of course.

Also in the National Championships, 7/10 times a breakaway will win. Its like the peloton can't agree who should set the pace, and the breakway just got away with 15-20 mins. But its very frustrating when you are a feared rider in the peloton, they simply just wont let you ride away, and since you only have 1 rider its pretty hard to close the gap.

Also tried some very odd races, one in Paris Nice where all the favorites attacked right from the start, Froome, Contador, Quintana etc for no reason what so ever. Seems very unrealistic to me :-)

in career i can get a two minute breakaway. if they let two of my cyclist break away. but most of time they won't so. fucked up men.

even a cyclist like Mollema isn't able to go into the breakaway in a Flatstage which is quite rare as he won't win it anyway

Yeah, NCs can turn into quite a gamble, especially if the two, three top favourites have low team support. It's a known problem for ages by now.

Nice nick by the way. Wink
