i find if i have the leaders jersey on a mountain stage, it means that i am expected to do the pace setting which i'm not a pace setter so it allows a slow bunch
i took this to an advantage once, winning a mountain top finish in the vuelta with ronan mclaughlin 
I was using Omega Pharma Quick Step and was going all for the sprints so had no mountain riders but still i had 2-3 riders in the favorite groups and the top 3 was even withing a minute of each other and no one attacked or raised the pace so it was a big group finishing |
