Hello everybody,
I have a career as a pro cyclist started . After 2 years and a team change to Movistar Team I was finally allowed to ride in the Tour de France , as helpers of course . On the fourth stage , I realized my chance to escape and was allowed to get dressed. 12 minutes I managed to get away to . My teammate Valverde led the overall standings . By my escape I was at one time 8 minutes ahead of the yellow jersey . Suddenly my own team with the chase began . Is that realistic or due to poor Ai ?

Were you alone in that break?

If so, I would say it is poor AI, as the own team should not chase if there is a team rider in the breakaway. But if you had someone with you is more dangerous to your captain and would probably be better than your rider, I could understand that they start to chase.

On the other hand, your team is (hopefully) not the only one with a favorite for the classement win, so they shoudl be chasing as well while your team is resting and not supporting.

Thanks for the answer,

I was alone, and on the Stageview where you can see the groups I saw my mates at the top of the peloton....In my opinion a bad decision.

But it doesn`t matter, at the next stage I broke my hand Smile

well, the stageview always shows your teammates at the "top" position, I guess you mean the 5-rider-icon and the lower right one was blue?

It is more important what the orders of your teammates where. You can see them just like your own action/order next to their name. If they were on relay, they where chasing you. probably they were on "hold position".
