Dealing with 2 or more groups

I find it hard to deal with 2 or more groups.
If i got a rider in the front i have to watch him, because otherwise the gets lost if the other riders attack, but if i folow him, my "Leader" is it risk of beeing left behind if the main competitors suddently attacks.

So how do others deal with this dilemma ?

The pause button certainly helps manage riders at key points. Otherwise, just keep an eye on the rider panel, watching water levels, effort etc. Occasionally drop back to the main group to check rider position etc.
When you can't decide between two options, flip a coin. Not because the result of the coin will choose for you, but because, in that split second before the coin lands, you'll know what side you want it to fall on.

Yes, I usually put my leaders at 80/85/90 in the peloton, and in the front part, so they won't be at risk at all.
