I've posted this in two other threads but didn't get any reply. I got this feeling that the progression in be a pro was a bit weird so I decided to run some tests.
I made 2 identical riders - one of them I trained on a min of 1 day a week, the other on max days a week. They leveled to 7 and to 8 on the same date. Moreover, they had the same overall improvement in stats - the only difference was the point distribution. Seems to me that the training has no effect - neither on the rate of leveling nor on the amount of improvement. Can anyone confirm this?

The intensity only affects fitness I think.
To me it seems like poor design in that case. I assume riders train in order to improve their ability. I mean I'm not getting any better at cycling up mountains sitting on my couch, why should they?
Most of the training is just to keep the form going, this applies to all sports. The only real training is done during the off-season or special training programs.

I am pretty sure there is a random factor involved. At least there is for normal development, it could well be for Pro Cyclist development as well.
there is some randomness in point allocation i.e whether u get 2 points in mountain and 0 in hills or 1 in each, for example. However, total points earned or rate of progression seems to be fixed. For me at least this is counter intuitive and counter immersive. Moreover, one of the most interesting things in these systems are the trade-offs between how much effort you put into improving stats, vs how much effort you put into race readiness.
