Welcome to the start of the Lisbon Classic. We have a very windy day today, which might add another dimension to this race.

The early break of today consists of pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/vsa.png Gastauer, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/vwa.png Blikra and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/bec.png Hosek. So it's Becherovka surprising by sending a rider into the break.

The race is boring today. The break had a max lead of about 7 minutes, but doesn't stand a chance. A crash in the back of the pack by pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/qst.png Houle is maybe the most notable event, as no echelons are created.

Finally with 45km to go pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sbp.png Reimer attacks. Although he doesn't get too far, it toughens the race up a little.

The three leaders head into the final 20km with a lead of about a minute.

In the back of the pack the race is felt. A large group is dropped, a pack of just 86 remains with 15km left to go.

Early on at the final climb, 14km from the line, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ozc.png Burghardt attacks! The 2013 winner's first goal is reaching final surviving escapee Hosek.

The German visibly suffers, but he reaches the summit and the final 10km with a lead of half a minute, after dropping Hosek.

Another small group drops from the pack. This time it includes some outsiders, namely pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/prp.png Avelino and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pok.png Mohs.

Although it's clear Burghardt will have trouble winning, he has managed to sustain his gap to an unorganized pack going into the final 5km.

With 3km to go the gap to Burghardt has remained the same. Bewley decides to launch very early. The other sprinters try to follow him.

Bewley has quickly ditched the rest of the pack. Next target: Burghardt. Van Stayen is powerless and won't be able to win today it seems.

With 1.8km to go Bewley catches an empty Burghardt, but behind him Guarnieri, Roelandts, Goss, Kristoff and Holloway are coming forwards.

Bewley's chasers each choose their own trajectory with 1.2km to go. Bewley is slowing down, but he might be able to hang on. The last kilometer will be very close.

Bewley seems to collapse, while Kristoff and Holloway have found their way forward. The finish line is coming closer and closer, so this is getting very tense.

With just 200m to go Bewley is caught by Holloway and Kristoff. These two will fight it out for victory today!

And it's Holloway who wins the third edition of the Lisbon Classic!

Kristoff and Roelandts complete the podium. Bewley hangs on for 4th, just ahead of Goss.
