Tour de San Luis - Stage 6
tsmoha
Big stage today and the million dollar question is: can pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sev.png Kasa hold on to that jersey? There are many guys in a position to take it off him, so it'll be a tough ask.

Same favourites as stage 3:

A 10 rider break gets a gap fairly soon. It contains pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/gen.png Rolland who will try to make up for being caught out yesterday as well as:
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ino.png Chawchiangkuang
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/act.png Zilioli
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/fwt.png Mayo

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ice.png Landa
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/mac.png Lemus Davila
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sod.png Gallopin

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/mac.png Lemus Davila goes for max points over the KoM and moves up into second. Still 12 points behind leaderpcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ice.png Omarsson.

Past the 2nd sprint and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sev.png Mendes and co has brought the gap down to 1'31 with 38km left.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/SanLuis/MG15_SanLuis_6_002.jpg
At the base of the final climb all the riders are almost caught. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ice.png Landa is throwing a last ditch effort, but it is in vein as the painmaker pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sev.png Kiserlovski is at the front of the bunch again.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/SanLuis/MG15_SanLuis_6_003.jpg
Huge support here in the queen stage of the Tour de San Luis! pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/act.png Marentes launches the first attack - followed by pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/alp.png Soler. Landa is just ahead of them now.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/SanLuis/MG15_SanLuis_6_004.jpg
5km remaining and the chasers have just about made the junction to Landa. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sev.png Kasa is positioned well upfront and so is pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/chi.png Martinez and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ioc.png Hardy. Most of the other big names are a bit further back in the field.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/SanLuis/MG15_SanLuis_6_005.jpg
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ino.png Atapuma accelarates and gets a gap. Bringing along with him: pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ice.png Bagot, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/chi.png Martinez, and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/bbk.png Ochoa Quintero.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/gen.png Rolland is leading the pack with pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sev.png Kasa right behind them. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/san.png Rodas is visibly tired though after yesterdays effort. He finds himself further down the group.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/SanLuis/MG15_SanLuis_6_006.jpg
And it's pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sev.png Kasa himself who almost brings the pack back up to the 2nd group on the road! pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ice.png Landa is dropped from the first group who is now 50" ahead of Kasa. At this rate pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/alp.png Soler (+41" GC) might take the jersey.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/SanLuis/MG15_SanLuis_6_007.jpg
But as they reach the steep section pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sev.png Kasa is unable to completely bridge across as he gets swamped by other riders in the pack. He is exploring some deep depths of the paincave as he Froomes down on his stem.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/SanLuis/MG15_SanLuis_6_008.jpg
So pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/alp.png Soler is in the virtual lead, but can the others in the bunch bring back the gap? Soler though is pushing on and puts pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/act.png Marentes in some difficulty with just 1,3km remaining!

500m to go and Marentes is also out the saddle, but is struggling to close the gap. Soler is driven on by the hope to win the GC though!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/SanLuis/MG15_SanLuis_6_009.jpg
Further down the road pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/bbk.png Ochoa Quintero tries to distance pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ino.png Atapuma and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ice.png Landa.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/SanLuis/MG15_SanLuis_6_010.jpg
The pack has caught up to pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/chi.png Martinez/pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ice.png Landa whilepcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ioc.png Hardy is moving up fast. The crazy Serb pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sev.png Kasa continues to destroy his legs to stay in contention.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/SanLuis/MG15_SanLuis_6_011.jpg
It's pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/alp.png Soler up front though! Just like Kasa, he destroyed himself and doesn't even have the energy to raise his arms. Chapeau! pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/act.png Marentes follows just behind with an impressive performance too. It's the final countdown! *cue old music*

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/SanLuis/MG15_SanLuis_6_012.jpg
Underperformers pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/bbk.png Ochoa Quintero and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ino.png Atapuma come in 3rd and 4th respectively while pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ice.png Landa held on for a good 5th.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/SanLuis/MG15_SanLuis_6_013.jpg
And heeerreee's pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sev.png Kasa! He comes in with what is left of the bunch who's strewn all over the road. These time gaps will be a nightmare to judge!

Unfortunately for some GC boys there's been a visible split in pack. Some were badly placed, but others just couldn't match the pace in the hectic finale. Those who were caught out include:
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/san.png Rodas
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/gat.png Brandt
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ino.png Manulang
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ino.png Kruopis
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ino.png Nieve
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/gen.png Malacarne
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/gen.png Molard

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/SanLuis/MG15_SanLuis_6_014.jpg
But what about the fight for yellow? And it is in factpcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/alp.png Juan Mauricio Soler Hernadez who take the number Juan spot! Well-deserved. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/act.png Marentes moves up into 2nd on GC, but pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sev.png Kasa retains a podium spot.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/san.png Rodas,pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/gat.png Brandt, andpcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ino.png Manulang each drop down 5 places while pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/chi.png Martinez and American champ pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ioc.png Rosskopf move into the top 5.
