As it currently stands, the site maintains only a small presence on social media in the form of the twitter account. While our twitter is useful for notifying people of news, bets and hottest threads - as well as for when the site is down - we wonder if there is a way it could be used to better connect with members of the site.
Obviously however, the primary aim of social media for Daily is to drive traffic to the site, and therefore there is a limit to what we are willing to do - don't expect 100 updates a day - but we want to know what you think we can do to improve. I have three main questions I'd like to ask:
1. What do you think of Daily's current presence on Twitter?
2. How would you improve the Twitter account? And what would you like to see contentwise from the account?
3. Do you think Daily ought to have a presence on other forms of social media? And if yes, which other forms?
1.- I find it like inexistent. Only reporting the hottest thread of the last 12 hours is not enough at all...
2.- I´d put the most important news of the site, like you are doing now, but I´d delete that Hottest topic tweets you put. Maybe writing something about the new story of XXX, or the new game by XXX, or the new Database by XXX, or the update of the Showroom of XXX. I think the most of the tweets you write at the moment are pointless.
3.- Yeah, it could be a way to reach even more users for the site. I think you only have Twitter (the most important social media in the end) and Skype, which is only used by less than 20 people here. I´d advertise the group a bit more, so new people can get into it, know us a bit better, and maybe they´ll become active users as we are right now. Also, Facebook is a very used social media. I´d use it for longer articles, for example putting the Features of the Expansion Pack or the Weekly News (maybe a shorter edition)... Instagram is also very used right now, but I can´t find it really useful for this site, maybe for advertising the shirts of the shirtmakers of the site...
Interesting idea, and there must be plenty of opportunities to get PCM.Daily on the map on the social media.
Personally, I think the Twitter account isn't very interesting (yet). It's just the hottest thread every 12 hours and the updates.
But then again, what should PCM.Daily twitter about. PCM, or real cycling, too? Maybe a nice feature would be to post a screenshot of the week on twitter, and ask a member to take a nice screenshot (ask a different member each week). Something like that?
I prefer Facebook above Twitter. I think Facebook can be much more useful. Ideas for posts: hottest thread, newest downloads/jerseys/stages, popular stories or new stories, fantasy betting.
An other option is a news letter, which you can make through mailchimp. Could be interesting to consider.
Facebook can draw traffic from the site though as well, so it's a bit of a double-edged sword me thinks. But yes, a fb site wouldn't be bad probably.
It's not social media but a way better version of Daily for mobile phones would increase traffic enormously I believe.

This or somebody makes an app where you can use all ?PHP-Fusion? sites better. More active twitter i think but fb could be ok.

Shonak has it spot on with regards to Facebook. While it is a sound idea, it's difficult to find a middle ground between too little and too much content there, so I'd welcome opinions on what the right amount is.
On the topic of the twitter account, the ideas are similar to what I was thinking with regards to highlighting certain topics. Another idea I suggested was the idea of creating a kind of live text stream for some races, with updates about the race supported by content from followers, if people would be interested? Again, opinions and further suggestions are welcomed, I do like some of the ones so far.
Don't really see the point of a newsletter - we have the weekly news for that purpose and don't really want to harass inactive members. And as for a mobile version of the site, I don't know how feasible that is but personally I feel the current setup is fine on mobiles - I use the site 90% of the time on my phone and have no issues.
somewhat unrelated to the original opening post but I'm to lazy at the moment to find the right thread about it.
the twitter (bot) is not posting anymore (even gave up on hottest thread). while I usually don't mind the hottest thread not being there but I kinda miss the new fantasy bet updates and the weekly news updates which I think were also posted on twitter
3.) Yes! I am an expert on Facebook as I am an admin on my school athletic page, my dad's DJ page, and my personal podcast page. Need help with an admin, look no further than right here
