Hey guys,
dont know if this topic has already been discussed but am I the only who find it very hard to win from a breakaway?
Im now at the 19th stage of the Giro and not once a guy from the breakaway won.
The peloton seems to cut the breakaways no slack even though most of the guys are 20-30 minutes after the leader of the race.
Anyone else experiencing this?
By the way my level is set to 'Hard' if that has anything to do with it. |

I havent played the pro mode yet but i find it strange that the peloton wont let a group of 4-5 guys get away with 6-7 minutes when they are no danger for the leader.
Everytime the breakaway is off the peloton keep them on a maximum of 2 minutes, why the favourites end up winning every stage.
In PCM14 it was possible for me to get away with a guy that wasnt a threat for the GC. |

it's still the same, but you are a threat to them:
1. Points
2. Mountain |

i had no problem winning multiple stages with a breakaway , just make sure you´re literally irrelevant in EVERY category , i.e. not high in the mountain rankings, not many sprintpoints, not in contention for the white jersey and at least 10 minutes down on the GC Leader |

I've just won stage 4 of Vuelta a AndalucÃa with Jesús Del Pino (Burgos BH) in a breakaway from the start of the stage. He wasn't well placed in GC, Mountains or Points. The peloton chased and made the gap less than a minute with 10kms to go; then I attacked, went solo, and they did not reach me

Same here. Impossible to go on a break in the Giro.
Seems like if youve gotten 10-20 mountain points, youre doomed. Impossible to get that stage win you need for getting access to TDF. |

Playing in be a pro mode, I won some stages. In particular one in Vuelta a España in Ermita de Alba makes me so happy.
Having MO79, but loosing 14 min in GC, peloton let me go, with another 4 riders, none was a decent climber.
My trick to avoid to be caugth in Mountain stages is a high pace untill you have 3 min of advantage, to avoid other riders attack to reach your group and have a few partners in the breakaway. Then put your effort lower than 50% and gain time slowly and saving energy.
the main group seems don´t concern the breakaway until it have a ratio of advantage/kms to finish (aprox 1 min every 10 kms)
When the main group start to chasing, put your effort at least 70%, when they can´t cut the difference for awhile, the AI gives up!!!!
when there are Sprints or Mountain points, put your rider in dot attack and don´t try to be the first, the AI makes that your partners in the breakaway waste energy attacking worthlessly every time. At the end, they should be so tired and fall behind with your dotting attack. |

I m in my second season of Be a Pro and I won almost all my victories with a nice Breakaway. Of course I'm not yet able to do it on a world tour race as my rider is 20 y.o. Yesterday I won a nice mountain stage of Tour of Slovenia 2.1 with 1'30 on a groupe of 10 riders.
The idea is to try to catch the breakaway and hope to have a good daily bonus. For this one I had a +2 which is already quite good. Then the gap will probably growth to 3min and stay there. You just have to spend as less energy as possible and when a good climb comes, try to put your effort at 75/80 for a while. The peloton will not be able to close the gap, teammates of the leader will explode, you will probably stay all alone on the breakaway with some strong riders chasing you. And they will use quite a lot of energy to try to close the gap while on the front you can just adjust your pace to your energy and reach the finish line as a winner.
I find it easier to win with a breakaway when it's a hilly or mountain stage. On flat stages I struggled quite a lot also because my rider is a climber. |
