The Classique Grand-Duché concludes this year's ProTour triple-header: sort of. With defending champion Trofimov riding P-N, we are looking for a new winner here.

Bakelants (who crashed in the previous two editions), Ginanni and Ponzi should be the top-favorites, with also TVG, Cunego or Gastauer amongst those aiming for the win.

5 riders go clear for the break of the day, with a few earlier attempts of a 10-men-group not allowed to establish a gap:

build a gap up to eight minutes, before the peloton - led by Pokerstars and Bouygues for most of the time - starts chasing them down..

He's soon joined b 8 more riders, yet trying to escape from the bunch. The early break has been swallowed already:

Bakelants, Van Garderen, Ponzi, Gastauer, Cunego, Gilbert, Claeys, Sanchez Gil and Gautier as those nine..

The group couldn't establish a gap, as Pokerstars kept a high pace at the front of the pack. 21km before finish, the peloton is back alltogether.

But the action goes on - 18km remaining:

Followed by Schreurs and LLS immediately, and again several more riders trying to jump behind!

That makes for a 15-men-group being formed with now 13km left. This may be the crucial split and we should expect one of those names fighting for the victory today:

6km remaining and Lutsenko goes for another acceleration, as his captain Gilbert got dropped a few minutes before!

10 riders now in the leading group, with Schreurs, Gautier, Guldhammer and De Bie struggling to follow..

Gautier and Schreurs though fought their way back and no one couldn't go clear from this elite group until the finishing climb!

Ponzi now leading the group into the final 3km: TVG, Gastauer, Bakelants, Lutsenko, Cunego and Ginanni behind him..

1km left.. almost the same order:

Ponzi going strong, now opening up a small advantage on TVG! Gastauer still ahead of Bakelants, who's already quite a gap on Cunego, Lutsenko, Claeys and a struggling Ginanni!

Ponzi, still! Van Garderen trying to close up, but it's only a few hundred metres to go now.. Gastauer vs Bakelants for the final podium spot, it seems..

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/gde.png Ponzi holds on and takes the victory! A huge result for him, after his already strong 2nd place behind Trofimov last year. That's a way to come back one year later.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/vsa.png Gastauer completes the podium ahead of top-favorite Bakelants and Claeys then.. Cunego, Ginanni, LLS, a strong Lutsenko and Bilbao completing the Top-10. Gilbert makes it a nice race for Pendleton's as 13th. Gautier and Schreurs, as well as De Bie and Guldhammer round up the Top-15 today.
