Mende is a well known climb in Paris-Nice. Today the stage finishes there and it`s the best chance to change the GC a lot. Several very steep section today should lead to some bigger selection than yesterday.

6 riders form todays break:

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/btc.png Lietaer
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ozc.png Khederi
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/vsa.png Rodriguez Galindo
Bugge with +9min the best placed. Interesting to see him in the break for sure as he might lead as relay station for Boasson Hagen later.

Good Energy doing all the early work themselves and allow them a 3min gap.

At the first Cat.1 of the day the gap is about 5min. With one more spot to be rewarded some riders decide to go for it. Jensen takes it in the end ahead of Koren, Sagan and Kruijswijk.

Sagan seems to want to keep this attack going while some of the other riders, who just went for the KoM aren`t sure about it. One rider though decides to support Sagan. It`s pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ayu.png Roux, 21st in the GC and just like Sagan interested to improve a bit.

Red Bull, Good Energy and Bacardi, who work behind allow them more than 2min. Seeing that they have less than 4min in the GC, this could become dangerous.

Quickly we have a trio of Sagan, Roux and Jensen closing the gap to the breakaway while Kruijswijk and Koren not doing too much and are a bit behind them.

After the Cat.3 the trio made it to the front. Jensen also interested in more KoM points and working with them.
50s later the remaining duo Koren/Kruijswijk and almost 4min later the peloton where also Aker is working now.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PT/ParisNice/mg2015_pn_07_PCM0128.jpg

The gap is down to 2'30 at the Cat.1. Mainly responsible for this reduction is Movistar, who yet again work hard for Paulinho, who is showing himself behind Hagen wearing the U25 jersey.
The pace is high now and while most GC riders are in the first third of the 171 rider peloton, some will need to be careful. Schleck in especially isn`t placed very well.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PT/ParisNice/mg2015_pn_07_PCM0146.jpg

25 rider selection in the peloton due to Movistar acceleration. We see the yellow jersey of Diggle at the end, who just made it.

But several quality riders didn`t make it: Monfort, Hoogerland, Kangert, Ignatiev, Van Stayen and the mentioned Schleck!

Immediately Van der Lijke is moving to the front of this 67 rider peloton now and highering the pace. Together with some Gazelle riders they try to bring them back.

The Schleck group still behind. It`s a bit more than 1min for those and only 7 riders are left!
Schleck, Van der Lijke, Monfort, Kangert, Furdi, Ignatiev and Hoogerland.
This means that another group around Van Stayen is even further behind.
The favourite group ahead is still going fast. Aker decides to not slow down at all. So it`s Boasson Hagen himself getting the water bottles now instead of sending a team mate behind. The 2-3 Aker riders left are non stop working at the front to reduce the 2'30 gap to the Sagan group.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PT/ParisNice/mg2015_pn_07_PCM0166.jpg

Sagan goes solo. Khederi tried to follow but he will be back with the rest soon again.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PT/ParisNice/mg2015_pn_07_PCM0167.jpg

With 9km to go and on the penultimate climb we also see first attacks in the peloton:
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/bac.png Ulissi
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/rbh.png Skujins
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/tcs.png Trofimov
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ozc.png Bobridge
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/akm.png Hagen
and a bit behind:
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/mus.png Paulinho
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/pro.png Castroviejo
and with another gap:
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/gde.png Diggle
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/vwa.png Flügel
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/fes.png Ricco
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/btc.png Taaramäe
who are basically the top of the group pulling them.

56s only for Schleck and still Van der Lijke doing a huge job doing almost all work alone in that group.

A bit later though a group with Diggle, Flügel, Ricco, Taaramae and Froome is also able to gap the remaining group and are 17s behind the Peulinho group.
Cat.2
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/bec.png Sagan10
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/ayu.png Roux8
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/vsa.png Rodriguez Galindo6
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/akm.png Bugge4
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/sui.png Hugentobler2

The favourite group including riders like Roche, who did not attack is now reached by Schleck and Monfort. So by now they seem to limit their loss a bit. Well done to Van der Lijke.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PT/ParisNice/mg2015_pn_07_PCM0181.jpg
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PT/ParisNice/mg2015_pn_07_PCM0183.jpg

The climb to Mende is starting. Sagan has 3km left. Group Hagen though is only 500m behind. The breakaway around Roux still in between.
The yellow jersey of Diggle is back in the Roche/Schleck group. He really struggles today against the best.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PT/ParisNice/mg2015_pn_07_PCM0185.jpg

Hagen and Trofimov lead the first chasing group and they easily pass the breakaway. Also Roux can`t really respond there.
Flügel and Taaramae still a bit behind just like Froome, Ricco and the others.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PT/ParisNice/mg2015_pn_07_PCM0189.jpg

1,8km left and Sagan is now reached by the strongest duo. Boasson Hagen and Trofimov justify their favourite status in this race.
12 riders together behind as all riders up to Froome joined them.
Ricco a bit behind but still ahead of the Schleck group.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PT/ParisNice/mg2015_pn_07_PCM0191.jpg

1,5km and Hagen accelerates again. Trofimov tries to follow. Sagan just can`t.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PT/ParisNice/mg2015_pn_07_PCM0200.jpg

And now on the final kilometer also Trofimov can`t follow. Pure strength here by Boasson Hagen.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PT/ParisNice/mg2015_pn_07_PCM0203.jpg

He takes a big win on the queen stage. He gains 12s on Trofimov plus bonus seconds. This sees him 7s ahead of the Russian in the GC. But we still have to wait for the others to come in. At the moment though it looks like those two will be the new 1-2 in the GC as well.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PT/ParisNice/mg2015_pn_07_PCM0204.jpg

Strong performance as well by Sagan, who still comes in 3rd ahead of the next.
55s for him though. Another 14s for the next riders: Skujins, Taaramae, Ulissi and Bobridge.

Then another 24s for Roux and Flügel, who gapped Froome another 19s.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PT/ParisNice/mg2015_pn_07_PCM0206.jpg

Schumacher and Ricco surely are big losers today. Just like Schleck or Valverde, who also finish in this group with 2'33 to the winner today.
While Schleck though can be happy in the end to only lose that much, the others surely must be disappointed.
Van der Lijke also finishing in this group is really impressive.

Roche even more disappointing. He ends as 20th today losing 3'16. Even dropping behind Schleck in the end.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/PT/ParisNice/mg2015_pn_07_PCM0213.jpg

Yellow jersey gone. Tom Diggle did fight but today he had no energy left. He is losing 4'22 here, which drops him to 11th in the GC. Still okay result but far less than 1st obviously.
Paulinho comes in together with him also dropping quite a bit. Monfort another rider with him.

One more note to todays stage. Josh Atkins couldn`t finish todays race. He was clearly exhausted.
