Today is a chance for the GC riders again. Lots of small bumps on first 180km. The biggest difficulty though is in the final part. First a long Cat.1 climb and another uphill finish after the descent. Though the slopes look easier today as the uphill sprint goes towards low percentages in the end.
Riders like Hagen, Trofimov and Ulissi this way are favourites with their sprint skills.

Last as 22nd and 3'46 behind the best placed. Then already Furdi with 6min to Diggle.
Not a surprise that Good Energy is the team to chase them. 5 riders work at the front including Guarnieri, who had some kind of shit race here. As not much happened on the first 80% of the race, we quickly jump forward and here an overview of the sprints, where Kruijswijk was easily the most interested in the KoM points.

With 50km left we have almost reached the long Cat.1 climb. At the moment we are on the small bump just before and we see that Good Energy now got support by Movistar, who have a high placed rider in Paulinho themselves. Also Tinkoff though is slowly coming forward while Diggle stays safely in the first rows. 4min gap for the breakaway.

Phelan. Last unfortunately had to abandon the race.

As soon as the riders hit the climb, Tinkoff accelerates and sends 4 riders to the front. Together with Good Energy and Movistar they do the pace now and quickly the gap is below 3min which means, no longer GC danger.
Palini, Chernetskiy or Barrio clearly is a lot of climbing power at the front now and quickly the peloton is down to 80 riders.

~3min though are still left at the top as the riders in front aren`t weak puncheurs neither.

Dees, 24th in the GC struggling now and also drops from the peloton. Just like Coppel, Wellens or Ludvigsson. 56 riders only in the peloton now before the descent.

It`s quite impressive, how active young Skujins is here. In especially after hitting the asphalt twice.
Volkswagen, Aker and Movistar immediately accelerate behind trying to reduce the gap.

Furdi as best puncheur decides to go solo on the uphill part.

At about the same place a bit later Boasson Hagen himself is trying to reduce the gap. Still 38s for the trio ahead.
Diggle, Schumacher, Roche, Sagan all in the front positions as well.

So far only Honkisz is caught though as Boasson Hagen leads the peloton of 47 with 3km to go. 27s behind the trio and 1,5km behind Furdi.

Nothing happened at the front. So Furdi takes a solo win today making it a good race for wildcard team Gazelle.

67s later Lammertink and Kruijswijk lead the next group. And behind them Trofimov and Skujins already have reached them.

Ulissi is a bit behind and comes in with 1'31.

Another Gazelle rider takes the last top 10 spot. Pozzato wins the sprint of the peloton ahead of Van Stayen and Ignatiev. They were just 7s behind Ulissi, which means 31s to Trofimov/Skujins, who are teh big winners today.

Big luck for some GC riders here as this gap weren`t given by officials. Well placed riders like Schleck, Preidler, Ricco, Valverde, Monfort or even GC leader Diggle with a weak uphill sprint here, which almost has led to a gap.

On tomorrows much steeper uphill finish, they need to be more careful.
