i see the 1996 db is out but will there be a like 1999 or 2003

I don't know.
Best chance would be to ask Sali about that. He's the historic DB maniac Pfft

He can make them a bit smaller, but still quite quickly.
A big historic DB project takes a lot of time though. People can only do that if they have a lot of motivation for it.
