There was plenty of impetus from many to get into the break. A break which took a good 60 KM to establish, when it did it was a 9 rider affair:

It really was a stage of two halves concerning the break. After such a hullabaloo in the forming of the break there was a complete contrast as we went into the last 60 KM of the day. In fact the break showed no desire to stay out-front and were wound in with 54 KM to go.

.... wrong. We don't see any action until the sprint is on. The only shot of note was seeing two Vesuvio - Accumalux domestiques drop back from the peloton. Via a detour, they would come in over 19'00 down on the stage.

With multiple victories for Bewley & Swift the top two places in GC looked decided. However, with two stages to go only 25 seconds separate 3rd place from 11th.
