The day started off with a lot of non favourites with the most notable rider being the Ukrainian rider Zmorka. He managed to ride the course in a total of 1h18’34”.

With a very long course there were around forty five riders on the course at a time. This meant that the hot favourite Gesink was on course when the first couple of riders were finishing the race. He was the second to last rider to go on course. He was followed by French rider Coppel.

A lot of riders beat Zmorka’s time. The most notable time was dutchman Keizer’s time. He set a 1h16’20” at the finish line. Could this be the time to beat for the riders yet to finish?

At the first checkpoint, Gesink’s time was slightly disappointing. He was 5th place 12 seconds behind the German rider Fiedler who was leading at that checkpoint.

Meanwhile, Spanish rider Tenorio moved into first place with a time of 1h16'05". With only Gesink and Coppel to finish Tenorio may have pulled off a shock victory.

However, Gesink had improved significantly from his slight disappointment at the first checkpoint to move into to first at the second checkpoint, he was six seconds ahead of Tenorio. Taaramae had also moved into first place and his time was six seconds faster then Tenorio

Gesink finished with a stellar time which moved him into first place. His time was a 1h15’59”. With only Coppel left to finish it looks like it will be Gesink’s title.

Coppel did not manage to beat Gesink’s time, meaning Gesink is your European Individual Time Trial Champion!
