The American ITT championship is going over a hilly route. The climb to the finish has some steep sections. As the fastest time trialist is also one of the best on those, the clear favourite is Taylor Phinney.
Main rival comes from his own country with Bookwalter. Also Canadian Meier, Colombian Úran and Costa Rican Amador.
Bookwalter on the road early for obvious reasons. He rides the new best at all sections and takes the lead at the moment.
That said, while he is reaching the finish, the first intersection sees two faster riders.
Phinney new 1st but just 4s ahead of Amador.
Úran though not very strong ttoday. He is 5th at the first check and also at the 2nd now but behind him Phinney and Amador have not reached this point yet.
Amador clearly the top challenger for Phinney today. He beats Bookwalter`s time at the 2nd by 19s. This is 1'34 faster than Uran! No surprise that the Colombian is already in his view.
Phinney also there now. He takes the lead. Though only 22s and with the final climb a lot may change. Bookwalter 42s back in 3rd ahead of Meier (+1'04) and Nasicmento (+1'29). Uran with almost 2min only 6th.
Amador crosses the line. Ahead of Uran! Obvious 1st for him 41s to Bookwalter. Uran won`t beat him so it`s only Phinney left.
And here he comes. The climb was pretty equal between the top2. Phinney was only 2s faster there, which results in a 24s lead over Amador and 1'06 to Bookwalter to take the bronze medal.
Full result failed here due to a crash. But here the most important top10.
