Multiplayer problem

Hi all!
Me and a couple of friends still play to PCM '10 version every summer through Hamachi. Yesterday we started a Tour d'Helvetie and after the first stage, the internet connection of one of us fell down. The friend who was in the game and me decided to continue the stage expecting he will be reconnecting during the second stage. He didn't and as he told us later, he tried but he couldn't join our game. After that we closed the game and I created a new multiplayer game loading the multiplayer game I had saved, this was from 3rd stage. The problem here is that the guy who couldn't join before, neither could now. The other friend could perfectly join and actually the game "remembered" the teams we had so we didn't have to choose a team.

So here is the problem, is there any way that he can join us even if he didn't play the second stage or the only way of playing a game online is by playing whole the stages since beginning?
