Bonsucro - Promoting sustainable sugar cane
O Boticário - Cosmetics
TV Cultura - Free Brazilian Television Network
Tectoy - Electronics
Valedourado - Food and Drinks
Werba – Metal Recycling
Caloi - Bicycle Sponsor
Etxeondo - Cycling Clothing
Herbalife - Nutrition
After a really enjoyable debut season, Bonsucro are back baby, of course! Now in the pro-continental division, how will the boys from Brazil fare? At the end of last season there was plenty of rambling about what we would/wouldn't do next season, long story short:
- revenge beckons at the Tour of America
- we will look to race a GT this season
- we will be going all in to finish as high up the rankings as we can, why not?
With Jacinta (The Jaguar) as our mascot surely the sky is the limit!

#1: PCT Team Standings - Top 10 - 19th
A difficult goal for a promoting team. To come close to this one will hinge on a great transfer season. We are buoyed that we managed to create a top team from scratch last season, with a bountiful budget at hand we feel we could form a special team in the transfer window, capable of finishing around 10th, or higher.
#2: Tour of America - Top 5 Nicácio - 13th After much thought we will be back to the Tour of America. Vengeance shall be ours! We will look to atone, big time, at the race which cost us the title. The difficulty will depend on the start list, will many other teams have the cajones to send a strong squad to this lengthy stage race?
#3: Volcan de Agua Classic - Win Contador - 8th A mountain heavy race in the Americas. Of the teams which didn't disband last season Bonsucro were the top ranked in the American standings. No regional standings this time around but we continue to focus heavily on the Americas. Now can we get a climber able to win such a race as this, yes we can!
#4: Interlagos GP - Top 5 Manarelli - 9th The only race on the calendar which is solely in Brazil. Of all the beautiful terrain of Brazil, the magnificent vistas, - we are heading around a nondescript motor circuit ...... Jacinta won't like that! Last season a break took this race, and they may well do this time around. Manarelli may well think himself capable of doing well here, however, we must be prepared to go into the break. We do have the notion of attaining a top rouleur, someone who attacks with 3 kilometres to go could do well here. Definitely a risky goal, even the race favourite can't have too much confidence of finishing in the top 5, but we have a feeling Bonsucro can do this one. * This race clashes with the Dutch Food Valley Classic.
#5: - Tour d'Andorra Top 5 Contador - 4th
So once again we are spreading our eggs! With targets in mountainous races, flat races and stage races Bonsucro don't want to/and shouldn't be labelled one dimensional. Many dimensions are here!

You too sutty! Looking forward to the new season: relegation battle, top 10 battle or perhaps a promotion battle? Who knows? Got a pretty startling budget after doing well last season so we could go any way I guess.
* Goals updated. |

sutty: It is impossible to say this early on. You should be more positive this time around: there is no Cycleman to bid you up!
aidan: It is a long long ways off, but is seems the hype is already building!
TMM: I'm thinking it will be pretty ironic if there is a better startlist for the ToA this season compared to last. Last season there were the regional rankings, which attracted some teams to the ToA. Still, it would be great to have a good startlist there, Bonsucro will likely send a strong team again, for me there should be more interest in what is the 'Continental/Pro continental GT'. I am sure tsmoha agrees with me!

João Gaspar
Alberto Losada
Carlos Oyarzun
Sergio Paulinho
Jose Eriberto Rodrigues
Amets Txurruka
The renewals are over. Nine riders have renewed with Bonsucro and eight have departed, for now. It is testament to the great team spirit that none of the riders we renewed demanded more than €65,000 ... in the end!
Co-sponsors, Werba, described the move to keep both Uruguayan champions as 'Mucho Bueno'! Aguilar and Bonsucro had many public fallings out last season, but now all is good. The Uruguay road champ said: ' I am eager to show what I can do for the team'.
We departed with 7 riders on good terms, some may yet be in the Bonsucro livery next season. We can confirm the eighth, Amets Txurruka, had to be escorted away by police after trying to extort us, he is awaiting trial.
We will consider all offers seriously if any do arise, for any of the renewed riders.

Being a few days since the Man Game transfer season started for 2015, now is as good a time as any to see what changes have taken shape at Bonsucro.
Signing # 1: Christian Egidio 50K (HILL:73, TT:74, FIGH:78)
As in our augural season, the first signing of the season for us was a Brazilian. How can we not be pleased signing Christian for the lowest possible amount? We already foresee him being a vital cog in the Bonsucro engine, a key member of our TT team and surely a good choice for plenty of attacks. He will be looking to impress much more than, our first signing last season, Gaspar did.
# 2: Alberto Contador 650K (MNT:82, HILL:76, REC:76)
From: Aker - MOT for 1,600,000
Then came the marquee signing! Spanish champion, second place at last season's Vuelta and 19 th in last season's WT rankings, Alberto Contador signs for Bonsucro. At the start of the transfer season Contador wasn't really on our radar, however, after some very enjoyable talks with Aker - MOT the deal seemed possible and was then able to come off.
Without doubt a huge signing for a newly promoted PCT squad, a signing which will go a long way to attaining two of our goals. The large Spanish speaking contingent at Bonsucro will go well with il pistolero.
AND ...... if having the Spanish champion isn't the final piece in the puzzle to guarantee us a, much desired, Vuelta wildcard then we don't know what is.
# 3: Alessandro Ballan 50K (FL:76, COB:74, FGHT:73)
After leaving Rothaus - Aegon, Italian veteran, Ballan signs for Bonsucro. Without a shadow of a doubt the most prominent cobbler ever on the Bonsucro roster. He raises our hopes from nothing to something, when it comes to having an impact on the pavé. A good rouleur to boot.
# 4: Polychronis Tzortzakis 25K (TT:73, STA:73, SPR:74)
From: Children of Chernobyl Foundation p/b Nemiroff (LOAN)
Some good-spirited talks between us and Children of Chernobyl Foundation p/b Nemiroff resulted in us signing Polychronis Tzortzakis on loan. A, more than, capable rider in multiple areas the Greek will look to progress with us this season. Expect to see him ride La Vuelta.
So the squad total rises from 9 to 13 with the transfer season still being young. Expect another update in about a week's time.

Contador is a fantastic signing for you!
I don't think there can really be much doubt on where one of the Vuelta wildcards will be going

Contador is a massive signing and you have done very well to get him.
Also I think that at minimum wage Ballan could still add a few points.

It is great for you. Contador with a very nice wage, although limited amount of racedays. I will be following my old captain to see what he can do for your team this season

Looking a lot forward to see Contador ride for you! That was the main reason why it was relatively easy to accept your offer, as there's no doubt he will lead your team
It will be cool to see him in the Vuelta as well if you're given a wildcard, he should definitely make for a very strong team! |
