The favourites here has to be Gilanipoor and Khalilikhosroshani, both riding for Compal with Poorseyedi the main challenger on paper.
Khalilikhosroshani sets a strong time early on being the only 2nd rider on route.
Poorseyedi is one second faster on the half-way stage.
That is still 46 seconds slower than Gilanipoor though…
Compal is back with top 2 on the 3rd intermediate.
With Gilanipoor almost catching up with Poorseyedi in the final km there really isn't much doubt as to who is the strongest today.
The Iranian road race will be held on the hilly course.
On paper this should be a close battle between Alizadeh, Poorseyedi, Khalilikhosroshani and Ashgarzadeh meaning that it seems somewhat unlikely that any of them will reach the finish line in the front group…
Sohrabi makes the first move.
He is joined by Kohladouz and Nateghi and the trio quickly gets a huge gap.
They hit 10 minutes advantage with 41 km left.
The three should be fairly equally matched on the hills though Nateghi should have the advantage in a sprint.
Kolahdouz attacks with 5,5 km to go.
No direct response bit with 2 km to go they have reeled him back in.
Kolahdouz tries again on the steepest section.
Sohrabi covers and passes him to enter the final km in front, while Nateghi is struggling a bit more.
A well-timed effort sees Sohrabi take the win with Kolahdouz second.
