The Colombian time trial championship has one clear and almost unbeatable favourite. That said, anyone else may still want to contest for the remaining places.
The first remotely decent time trialist on the road today is Forero. 1h12m05 is the best time when he crosses the line.
Parra Bustamante can't really convince. He loses a lot throughout the course and ends up 48 seconds behind, good enough for provisional 5th.
Herrera does a lot better. He beats Forero at the first and third check before setting a new best time at 1h11m43.
Pedraza started out badly, but limits his loss at the line to 48 seconds and a provisional third place.
Henao Montoya was close to Herrera all race long, but in the end he has to give up 28 seconds. Provisional third for him as well.
RodrÃguez Parra didn't match Herrera either. His loss of 40 seconds at the line places him in a provisional fourth place.
Suaza is the next person to be beaten by Herrera, who can already safely say he'll end at the podium. 28s loss for Suaza is provisional third for him.
Duarte started out badly, but grew into the race more and more. 1h11m42 is the best time, only a second quicker than Herrera!
Urán was undoubtedly the strongest today though. 1h10m221 makes him the winner, after already dominating all intermediate checks.
41 riders have made it to the start of the Colombian championships. The continental teams may be dominant, but as expected the favourites come from the biggest teams. That said, this field may well suit escapees.
It takes a while for a break to settle. Tamayo Martinez, Beltran and Parra Bustamente make the trio, with Angarita chasing. At the first summit their lead is already 6 minutes.
The pack doesn't look like it'll chase soon, so another breakaway win seems to be here unless something changes radically.
With Angarita not making it it looks like these three riders will fight it out for the win at today's final climb.
Behind, the favourites have woken up. Uran, Suaza and Henao Montoya form the first chase, Duarte and Pedraza the second. The leaders are already 12 minutes ahead of them though, so catching them would be a miracle.
Very soon at the final climb Parra Bustamente attacks, could he make it?
The other two make it back again with 2.5km to go, although they have had to make some serious efforts.
With 1.7km to go Parra Bustamente attacks again!
He is caught again with 1km to go, so we'll see who has the most resources left for what'll most probably be a sprint of a kilometer.
Beltran quickly gets the lead, and he looks the strongest of this group.
He even gets a large gap! Meanwhile Tamayo Martinez. looks safe for second.
The Colombian title goes to Beltran.
Tamayo Martinez comes second, ahead of Parra Bustamente.
Angarita rolls over the line as 4th.
Suaza, Uran and Henao Montoya divide places 5, 6 and 7. After them, only two more would make the time limit.
