Tour du Faso - Stage 2
The Rider
i87.photobucket.com/albums/k124/therider7/Faso2_zps5a5709ea.jpg

A pan flat stage, expect the sprinters to decide this one.

Africa Unite!

(Left) i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/afr.png Kiflay, in the white jersey, attacking early on. (Right) i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/qst.png Okbamariam shutting down the early breaks.

i87.photobucket.com/albums/k124/therider7/r2_zps48d090f0.jpg

5 man break:

- i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/nor.png Alaphilippe
- i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/b3b.png Sparling
- i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/afr.png Kiflay
- i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/rbc.png Cataford
- i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/met.png Sosnitskiy

After two intermediate sprints i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/nor.png Alaphilippe would be in the provisional race lead thanks to the bonifications.

i87.photobucket.com/albums/k124/therider7/r3_zps051a4127.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ozc.png Oz Cycling Project riders, in the points jersey and GC lead respectively, look on as the break is allowed little room for manoeuvre with plenty of interest from the many teams chasing.

i87.photobucket.com/albums/k124/therider7/r4_zps3b6cb27d.jpg

After i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/b3b.png Sparling is caught by the bunch with 50 KM to go, it is
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ozc.png Olman who is leading the peloton when the remainder of the break is swallowed up with 31 KM to go.

i87.photobucket.com/albums/k124/therider7/r5_zps1febbf91.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ozc.png M Ford extends his race lead! He claims 6 points, uncontested, as he passes through the intermediate sprint with 27 KM to go, the remainding points were gobbled up by i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/gzl.png Gazelle domestiques. Very weird that the sprinting elite didn't contest these points.

i87.photobucket.com/albums/k124/therider7/r6_zps81a2e3d9.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/mei.png Meiji - Cannondale set the pace with 10 KM to go. All of those who were in the break have now been dropped from the peloton, which is mostly still intact. So the break won't have any effect on the GC today. That means i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/afr.png Kiflay is bound to lose the white jersey.

i87.photobucket.com/albums/k124/therider7/r7_zps663af627.jpg
Before you know it we are deep into the last kilometre, the sprint is on!

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/bbk.png Cavendish will start the sprint well back and there is no sign of i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/rbc.png Vanderbiest in this one.

i87.photobucket.com/albums/k124/therider7/r9_zps1feb957a.jpg

Here come i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/pum.png Team Puma - SAP! Once again a top lead-out fromi439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/pum.png Giaux sees i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/pum.png Ciolek come right into contention for the stage win, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/met.png Hoffman looks to have followed the right wheel here.

i87.photobucket.com/albums/k124/therider7/r10_zps2d3e5605.jpg
- 100 meters to go.

So close to the finish, only four look capable of the win. (L-R) i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/met.png Hoffman, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/pum.png Ciolek, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/mei.png Napolitano or i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/abc.png Castaneda will decide this one.

i87.photobucket.com/albums/k124/therider7/r11_zps84537044.jpg

Stage win and the race lead for i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/pum.png Ciolek, another scalp for one of the stand-out riders this season. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/mei.png Napolitano and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/met.png Hoffman round out the podium and rise in the GC. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/qst.png Vantomme was one of the quickest finishers but just misses out on the bonus seconds. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ozc.png M Ford drops from 1st to 2nd overall.
