Tour of America - Stage 21
tsmoha
i.imgur.com/0lGJOoc.jpg

The Tour of America concludes with a short (96km) flat stage from Los Angeles to Santa Monica. Just a speedbump on the finishing loop, but overall an easy profile.

With quite a few top-sprinters out of the race, guys like Mezgec, Andriato or Ewan may be considered the favorites for a bunch sprint.

i.imgur.com/B7bNKvo.jpg

Just one rider goes clear after a quiet start into the stage: i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/mac.png Davila is more than an hour down on Kashechkin as 38th in GC..

i.imgur.com/pV8cZjn.jpg

There's no real effort to be seen back in the peloton, which allowed Davila a gap up to 12 minutes at it's peak.

A few teams like Meiji or Kazzinc finally go for a higher pace in the second half, but it's all too late to pull today's solo-escapee back..

i.imgur.com/BfIJYi1.jpg

Probably the easiest victory for i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/mac.png Davila in his entire career as a pro and junior.. Mobil at least grabbing two stage-wins in the previous days, as their GC-hopes faded away early into the Tour.

i.imgur.com/PxlRSrO.jpg

About 3 minutes later, the sprint for 2nd place is on it's way: i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/mei.png Nateghi and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/mag.png Speirs with a small advantage over i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/rep.png Andriato and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/bon.png Aguilar..

i.imgur.com/twMR09b.jpg

While Aguilar and Nateghi totally crack on the final metres, Speirs holds on to a small lead over Andriato and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/wwr.png De Ketele..

i.imgur.com/K6KgRQb.jpg

..and he lungs in for the 2nd place: i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/mag.png Speirs ahead of i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/wwr.png De Ketele, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/rep.png Andriato and a too late kicking i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/kzi.png Mezgec! All other riders finish safely in the peloton.

i.imgur.com/dfL426K.jpg

And so i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/rep.png Kashechkin is yet again the crowned Tour of America-champion! Thanks to i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/cal.png Eastman's tough luck with a crash and losing 6 minutes on a flat stage, the Kazakh wins by quite a margin to also take the green jersey eventually. Huge points haul for Repsol and Heineken, too.

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/mag.png Rohregger an undisputed 3rd, though he lacked an outstanding stage-result. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ioa.png Rodas with a nice 4th ahead of i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/tcu.png Haga, who played his strengths in the TTs to beat some better climbers like i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/wwr.png Dyball, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/kzi.png Pozzo/Agudelo!

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/bon.png Txurruka and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/mei.png Doi complete the Top-10 ahead of i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ioa.png Di Gregorio and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/cal.png Stetina. Bonsucro as maybe the unluckiest team afterall, losing their biggest GC-threat Nicácio with an injury early into the race.

i.imgur.com/gKshiaB.jpg

Eastman with two jerseys just like Kashechkin: a narrow KoM-win and an easy white jersey will somehow make up for the loss against Kashechkin. It must have been said, that the US boy looked like he would be the strongest here. Truly bad luck to miss out on a GC-win that way!

Kazzinc wins the team's competition ahead of local team Heineken and a strong CT-invitee In-n-Out!
