Grand Prix de Quebec
Gustavovskiy
Hello and welcome to GP Quebec.

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/quebec.png

The breakaway of the day takes its time to form, but by the 3rd time we pass through the finish line a 7 rider group is established
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/abc.png Campero
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/hrc.png Lorenzetto
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/fcb.png Abreu
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/kar.png Cardoso
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/csc.png Garcia
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/rep.png Salinas
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/azt.png Magallanes

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/quebec1.png

These are all decent puncheurs but nobody seems to be dangerous enough, so the peloton is keen to let them reach a 7min advantage. However by the time they hit 115km to go, the gap starts to decline steadily.

We reach the last 50km with a 2’35 deficit to the front. i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/rbc.png RBC, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ven.png Venchi, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/bac.png Bacardi and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/gzl.png Gazelle are doing most of the work. We’re 4 circuits away from the end of this race.

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/quebec2.png

Time for some bad news: i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/qst.png Serry has taken a tumble inside the last 30km and will struggle to join the pack now

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/quebec3.png

Meanwhile, at the front of the pack, the first serious offensives take place. It’s i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/rbc.png Bellis and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/bac.png Ulissi who draw first blood!

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/quebec4.png

We’re now only going to pass the finish line 2 more times, fact well-known by the riders in the bunch. The pace is high and lots of riders start feeling difficulty in keeping up. None of matter except for i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/flg.png Passalacqua and poor i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/qst.png Serry .

Our 2 previous attackers have conquered a very small gap to their followers and are a minute away from the front with 25km to go.

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/quebec5.png

In the front group i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/rep.png Salinas initiates the hostilities

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/quebec6.png

…but he's promptly brought back

Seeing that the Bellis – Ulissi duo is thriving with their initiative, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/mag.png Vastaranta sets off after them as we pass under the 20km banner

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/quebec7.png

The Finn is able to reach the intermediate duo, but i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/bac.png Ulissi isn’t a fan of this new arrival and blasts off in pursuit of the front group. The pack is not far behind

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/quebec8.png

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/rbc.png Bellis and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/mag.png Vastaranta eventually reach the first group, but this ignites another attack by i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/csc.png Garcia, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/azt.png Magallanes, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/hrc.png Lorenzetto, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/abc.png Campero and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/bac.png Ulissi

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/quebec9.png

A number of attacks in the pack leads to the catch of the intermediate group, leaving only the previous attackers front of the pack as we enter the last lap of the circuit!

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/quebec10.png

With 10km to the finish though it’s all back together again!! Will we have a mass sprint?

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/quebec11.png

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/gzl.png Gazelle and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/rbc.png RBC take to the front and will lead the rest of the pack to the finish line it seems!

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/quebec12.png

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/bac.png Ulissi finds an opportunity within the last 4km to attack in a downhill section!! Who will react now?

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/quebec13.png

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/gzl.png Monfort, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/rbc.png Bellis, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/met.png Rabon, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/fcb.png Betancourt, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/bac.png Bilbao, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ken.png Wegmann and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/amx.png Taborre counter as fast as they can

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/quebec14.png

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ven.png Di Maggio waits a bit longer but also sets off in pursuit

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/quebec15.png

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/gzl.png Monfort is the first to launch his sprint followed by i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/bac.png Ulissi and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/rbc.png Bellis

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/quebec16.png

The Belgian keeps his lead as we enter the last km were there’s no climbing left to do

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/quebec17.png

He’s losing steam though as we approach the finish line, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/fcb.png Betancourt especially looks fast!

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/quebec18.png

Who’s going to take it?…

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/quebec19.png

Whoa!! This is going to go down to photo-finish!! What a finale!!

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/quebec20.png

Race-radio is saying i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/fcb.png Carlos Betancourt has won it. What a sprint from the Colombian. At some point it seemed i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/gzl.png Monfort couldn’t be beaten, but our victor sure knew when to launch his powerful sprint.

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/rbc.png Bellis takes the last spot of the podium, while i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/bac.png Ulissi is 4th. After them come i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/bac.png Bilbao, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ken.png Wegmann, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/amx.png Taborre, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/met.png Rabon and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ven.png Di Maggio, occupying places 5th to 9th in that order.

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/quebec21.png

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/mag.png Jukka Vastaranta has still managed to launch himself away from the pack to hold them off and take the last available top10 place
