Tour of America - Stage 4

Sacramento will again host the stage-finish to conclude an all-flat 57km TTT! A tough challenge against the clock and the first real test for the most promising GC-contenders.

Local team Heineken, Kazzinc and Magna are rated as the favorites for this stage and so at least three top-favorites (Eastman, Agudelo, Rohregger) may gain valuable time on riders like Kashechkin. Of course, this is just the prediction..

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/cal.png Heineken has an early start and they already show their strength by crushing the two teams, who crossed the first split:

49" faster than Mobil and 1'09" than Boeing!

i.imgur.com/Ttus2Qr.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/kzi.png Kazzinc had some strong showings in timetrials this season and line up with a solid squad here, too.. they ain't looking set to beat Heineken though:

+ 30" at the first split as the second-best team so far!

i.imgur.com/PAgenSr.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/bbk.png Belarusbank and GC-leader Thorsen will try to limit the losses as good as possible. Thanks to Thorsen entering the stage with almost two minutes on riders like Eastman, they may hope to keep the race-lead:

+ 1'15" on Heineken at the first split though, with still about 31km to go!

i.imgur.com/ljjUovo.jpg

Split #1: Heineken going strong with Kazzinc and Magna already half a minute behind.. Kashechkin/Repsol already a minute down, the team will have to fight hard to limit the losses today!

i.imgur.com/zAwZLt2.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/rep.png Repsol fighting their way to the second split, now already 1'38" down on Heineken with about 16km remaining. Kashechkin will definitely enter the first hills/mountains with quite a disadvantage on Eastman, if nothing crazy happens today or tomorrow..

i.imgur.com/IFniL82.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/mag.png Magna as one of the stage-favorites cross the second split with a 59"-disadvantage on Heineken, so it's all about fighting for the runner-up maybe.. even though Kazzinc was more than 10 seconds faster so far!

i.imgur.com/WIwQAmx.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ioa.png In'n'Out with a pretty strong ride so far, crossing the second split as the 3rd best team, just three second faster than Magna though..

i.imgur.com/V0XC6zZ.jpg

Split #2: Heineken on the way to take the stage, while it's still a quite interesting battle for the GC-lead. Kazzinc (Mezgec), In'n'Out (Sweeting) or Magna (Drujon) all had at least one rider amongst those 13 riders, who gained more than a minute on the peloton on second day here.

Belarusbank, by the way, is down by 2'06" at this point, so Thorsen will definitely lose yellow after this tough timetrial..

i.imgur.com/BDyKa2y.jpg

And here goes Heineken past Boeing to storm to the stage-win:

1h15'28" for the lead, with no team strong enough to finish even close!

i.imgur.com/Ka0clzP.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/mac.png Mobil with Vasquez as their biggest GC-hope crosses the line with a 1'51"-disadvantage as provisional 3rd behind i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/kzi.png Kazzinc, which finished the stage exactly 1 minute down on Heineken..

i.imgur.com/er3R75I.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/mei.png Meiji comes in a few seconds slower: 1'55" lost on Heineken for still a solid performance overall.

i.imgur.com/5XZR5xW.jpg

Magna had it's problems to compete with the very best and has to settle for a 4th place: 1'47" on Heineken and 25" behind a strong In'n'Out-squad!

i.imgur.com/Bjux9Zd.jpg

Repsol and Kashechkin eventually lose 2'33" on Heineken/Eastman today! Quite a big loss and of course some pressure for Kasheckin to show some aggressive racing in the mountains..

Here the final results as for the teams:

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/cal.png Eastman crossed the line as first and thanks to this huge effort by his team, he also takes over the GC-lead from Thorsen! i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ioa.png Sweeting as the best non-Heineken rider as 5th in the GC, 20" down on Eastman. So in reach for a tied GC-lead in tomorrow's tricky flat stage!

A few more sprinters like i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/kzi.png Mezgec, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/mag.png Drujon, i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/mei.png Nateghi and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/rep.png Andriato kept a Top-10 placement. Eastman though is already there, where he wants to finish this race. He will be tough to beat now, but anything can happen (as we just witnessed yesterday, where Nicácio had to quit the race)!
