Time for the 2nd big summit finish of the race and it is all about the Alto de Letras, which is climbed twice - taking a different road to the summit on each occasion.
A very interesting breakaway as we see Faiers, who impressed yesterday, joined by Brajkovic who almost won the first summit finish, but since lost a lot of time in a crash.
Both are the secondary climbers in their team which has allowed them to take the gamble. Can it work?
At the first summit their lead is just under 5 minutes, as Brajkovic crosses first. Could he be targeting the King of the Mountains jersey now?
In the peloton Saldarriaga attacks for 3rd, but Ortega, the current leader, is attentive too and takes the points for 4th.
On the downhill Lecuisinier and Atapuma join Saldarriaga and Ortega clear of the peloton but the move doesn't last until the start of the final climb.
Rothaus and Becherovka did a fair amount of pace setting on the first climb, and now it is B&O and Project 1t4i who take over. In fact, Henao Montoya is relaying on the front of the peloton as the final climb properly gets under way.
The lead of Faiers and Brajkovic has been slashed to under a minute, so that gamble seems to have failed.
12km to go, and Alarcon attacks!
He soon bridges up to Brajkovic and Faiers, but the Slovenian responds by attacking away!
A flurry of counter-attacks follow Alarcon now, with Machado, Velits and Amador at the forefront. They link up with Alarcon and in fact it is one big group now forming. There are 24 riders in here, but the pace is tough and they are really spread out.
It soon breaks apart. Henao is clearly working for Brambilla and drops back for him, which is unfortunate as the Italian is not having his greatest of days.
A 13 man group forms at the front, but in front of them is Brajkovic. Having been caught by Alarcon after his day-long break, suddenly his lead had rocketed up to 1'10 again!
THere's a lack of urgency in the group of leaders it seems, but they must be riding quite hard becuase it soon splits again!
First Group: Velits, Amador, Kritskiy, Alarcon, Machado, Eastman, Guldhammer, Suaza
Second Group: Denifl, Contador, Keizer, Dombrowski, Antón
It's a surprise to see Contador and Denifl struggling - especially at the expense of Suaza, Guldhammer and Eastman. But the two groups soon come back together again as nobody is willing to commit to keep the pace up.
This is all the more beneficial to Brajkovic, who still leads by a minute with 5km remaining.
After a couple of kilometres of no action, and no reduction in Brajkovic' lead, Kritskiy and Machado are riding on front of the group. They look at each other, and decide to attack!
They get a gap and then look at each other again. Now it seems they are just going to sit up and fall back to the group, crazy!
Alarcon shows them how it is done. He attacks the group then breezes straight past Kritskiy and Machado.
Velits picks up the pace to chase after these moves and only Amador can follow. Actually, no, Suaza is there too! Incredible riding from the Colombian.
Once again Contador and Denifl are under pressure.
Monsalve is impressive fighting hard behind, and now closer than ever to making contact with that group.
Here are the gaps:
Alarcon is now trying to close in on Brajkovic, gap down to 25 seconds.
Machado is watching his lead slip away to Alarcon, and isn't going down without a fight, here comes a fresh attack.
Huge move, and he almost catches up right away - just 8 seconds behind the Venezuelan now.
The other Venezuelan, Monsalve, now catches the Contador/Denifl group!
Final kilometre and the road steepens up to a fierce 19.7%! Brajkovic still leading.
Amador and Velits go on a charge until the final kite. Suaza finally cracks, and they close in on Kritskiy.
Alarcon is extending his gap on Machado once again, it is up to 20 seconds. He needs 23 if he is to take the race lead!
He can't catch Brajkovic though. Phenomenal ride by the Heineken rider to win the stage.
Alarcon finishes 15 seconds down, now the clock starts.
20 ... 21 ... 22 ... here's Machado.
23 seconds behind Alarcon! He loses the race lead by 1 second.
Amador and Velits are inseparable, finishing 1'05 behind Brajkovic - that's 50 seconds on Alarcon.
Kritskiy is close behind at 1'16.
Suaza eventually finishes at 1'53 - it is a big result for him to beat Denifl in particular, while Contador is back at 2'06.
Guldhammer comples the Top 10 at 2'29.
What this all means for GC, behind the 1 second battle at the top, is Amador slips back to 3rd but is still in touc at 44 seconds. The gap opens up there and it is Suaza who holds 4th overall! He is 2'07 down, just in front of Contador and Velits.
Guldhammer, Denifl and Eastman are next while Anton completes the Top 10 - level on time with Monsalve and Keizer. Brajkovic has climbed up to 13th place.
Right at the bottom of the field the time limit has struck again, to eliminate 21, including 3x stage winner Kennaugh.

Howard and Trusov are the only top sprinters left - and Machado now takes the Points jersey lead. Ortega keeps the KoM lead but Brajkovic goes into 2nd, with Guldhammer remaining the best U25.
