I hate to start a thread with this but I feel like it should be shared.
Polish motorbike rider Michal Hernik has been found dead in the third stage of the Dakar Rally. He was found 300 meters from the main route with his bike next to him without his helmet on. There were no sign of any crash so assumptions are that he ran out of water.

Barreda and Al-Attiyah are the leaders in motorbikes and cars. Sonik and Nikolaev in Quads and in trucks.
Then, Sainz and Roma won´t win in Cars.
So... nothing more to say... let´s talk a bit.
the Cars are imo the best race so far. we started with over a dozing favorites and so far and almost every day we lose one favorites. with van Loon and Ten Brinke in the top 10, the dutch are high in the GC as well. sadly in all the other classifications the dutch are dissapointing.
In the bikes I had hopes for Verhoeven and Van Pelt, Verhoeven is top 30 and Van Pelt retired. hopefully Verhoeven is able to bounce back in the second week.
Trunks have gone even worse. De Rooy and Stacey are both out of the GC and the Kamaz trucks have a 1-2-3-4 and Loprais lost a lot of time yesterday.
our only competitior in Quads has been arrested in stage 5

Is anybody here following the AMA Supercross?? For those who don't know: motocross in a big football or baseball-stadium, full of big jumps and technical sections. A race (the final) is about 18-20 minutes, full of action....
I love to see Ryan Dungey leading the championship, as I like his style of riding. Smooth, perfect and clever. And a German, Ken Roczen, is 2nd in the rankings

Wonder if that has anything to do with Monster?
I don't follow it but i see it pop up around the place every now and then. Always fun to watch some highlights, great spectacle. When it comes to moto-cross i prefer Freestyle events.

for those who like NASCAR for some reason (I just happen to watch it because there is nothing else on right now) the Daytona 500 is with the green white checkered. not sure what that means but it will surely make some exiting (for NASCAR standards ) racing

NASCAR WOOO!!!
Green-White-Checkered is an end of race scenario. Simply explained: Cars restart on the penultimate lap of the race (Green). They race around the lap to take the White Flag signalling the final lap (White). After that they race to the finish (Checkered).
However if there is a crash before the White Flag, they re-set and try again. There are three attempts at a GWC. After the White Flag is passed whatever the next flag is ends the race, whether it be the checkered or yellow.
It's an entertaining system that i really like, works very well in the NASCAR format.
Gonna wait a couple of days for the 500 to be uploaded on-line (legally, hopefully) and catch-up a bit later in the week. The Duels were pretty good already and i'm excited to see what Kyle Larson can do in season 2 and then whether Keslowski or Logano can get the title

Sadly, I was racing the race live. And another casualty in a month. A great driver joins the grid in heaven. May God have his soul. |
