Early on only one rider broke free from the peloton, that rider was Stevenson.

He would take max points at the first climb of the day ahead of Masuda and Firsanov who fought out the minor points behind.


Stoltz makes a cameo.

Shortly afterwards Stoltz bridges a sizable gap across to Stevenson.... However, at the next climb, with 121 KM to go, Stevenson comprehensibly distances the German so much so that Stoltz retreats back to the peloton.

Once again Stevenson finds himself as the lone wolf of the breakaway.



Masuda would scoop up the minor KOM points, however, the Swede out front looked like he was securing the KOM jersey today.


50 KM to go: Stevenson @ 4'00.

It was the GC men who contested the bonus seconds on offer at the intermediate sprint. De Greef would pick up four points/seconds and Saggiorato would pick up 2.



Team Live Nation and Lierse SK - Pizza Ullo Cycling Team have been the most prominent chasers all stage, but now in the last 25 KM we see more and more teams contributing to the pace setting.


Stevenson summits the final climb with 10 KM to go.

Baring strange circumstances Stevenson will win the KOM comp here thanks to summiting all climbs first today. He just holds off the peloton on the final climb, but would soon be caught. A sprint is on the cards.

A few riders have been tailed of the rear of the large peloton, including race leader Viktor Renäng. We will have a new race leader come the end of the stage.

Guillen leads but Averin, showing good form, is hot on his heels.


100 meters to go.

Averin takes the lead.



From here the win looks in the bag ....



But Jeannesson finishes like a rocket to claim a dramatic late win in a mix up of sprinters, who struggle to climb, and the GC men which makes for some strange results.

Averin finishes second and moves in the race lead and Aistrup rounds out his team's good day with a podium.
