Tour de France - Stage 14

Time for the climbing again. This time a less hard mountain stage being actually hilly rated going up the Mont Faron in the end, well known from the Tour Méditerranéen.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Tour%20de%20France/mg2014_tdf_14_PCM0002.jpg

6 pretty decent climbers in todays breakaway. Surely they hope to get another breakaway chance as the GC teams might want to save energy for the important final mountain stages.

The early KoM and sprint points were shared by those as no one really showed a lot of interest.

With 40km to go B&O has reduced the gap to under 3min. Co-leader and 25th in the GC Keinath is already helping out, which shows that Pluchkin has some ambitions today.
Only 2 dropped riders so far with Howson and Haugard.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Tour%20de%20France/mg2014_tdf_14_PCM0021.jpg

Last climb done before the final and definitely hardest of todays stage. Still 2'50 gap with 24km to go.

Cat.4
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/vue.png Hivert5
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/btc.png Teklehaimanot3

The gap kept the same until the last 5,5km that are all going uphill as we reached the Mont Faron.
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/bac.png Navarro and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/tcs.png Ignatenko have immediately attacked the group trying to win the stage.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Tour%20de%20France/mg2014_tdf_14_PCM0026.jpg

Same place ~3min later. Still B&O doing all the work but the pace is not that high and so the breakaway most likely will take this one as the GC riders indeed save their energy for the more important stages.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Tour%20de%20France/mg2014_tdf_14_PCM0039.jpg

Still you can gain a few seconds today and so it`s i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ing.png Sicard attacking first followed by i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/bampo.png Pluchkin and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/vsa.png Schleck.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Tour%20de%20France/mg2014_tdf_14_PCM0043.jpg

More riders follow:
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/wik.png Phinney
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/swi.png Amador
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/btc.png Taaramäe
and just behind those:
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/vue.png Dekker
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/pnd.png Kohl
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/fes.png Spilak
All others were either not well placed or decided to wait a bit longer.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Tour%20de%20France/mg2014_tdf_14_PCM0048.jpg

Back to the front where only Navarro has a small gap but it`s a tiny one. Shikai leading the group now almost closing.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Tour%20de%20France/mg2014_tdf_14_PCM0050.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/tcs.png Kritskiy was waiting so far but now also reacts and attacks. He is followed by i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/bampo.png Keinath showing his first move this Tour. Surely he will fight for a top20 as well now.
Behind them more GC riders are following like
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/prp.png Fothen
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/trh.png Keizer
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/bec.png König

So who is still in there?
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/std.png Madrazo
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/std.png Tenorio
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/bac.png Intxausti
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/bac.png Úran
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/pro.png Henao Montoya
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/qst.png Marquez
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/vwm.png Monsalve
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/gde.png Scarponi
...

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Tour%20de%20France/mg2014_tdf_14_PCM0056.jpg

But for most of those it`s highly time to do something.
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/std.png Madrazo follows this move as also i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/bac.png Úran
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/vwm.png Monsalve
while i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/bec.png König struggles to keep contact.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Tour%20de%20France/mg2014_tdf_14_PCM0060.jpg

The Sicard/Pluchkin/Schleck group still having a small gap to the next including:
Phinney, Taaramae, Amador and Spilak.
Then Dekker coming solo ahead of
Kritskiy, Keinath and Kohl.
Uran, Madrazo, Fothen and Keizer with another gap, while all others are having a gap sitting in the peloton.
All gaps are between 20-30s though.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Tour%20de%20France/mg2014_tdf_14_PCM0062.jpg

The win probably will go to the breakaway even though the Pluchkin group is not far behind.
It`s i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/btc.png Teklehaimanot attacking now with i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/vsa.png Shikai and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/srb.png Samoilev the only riders to follow with 1km to go.
This means the other trio including Navarro is probably losing this stage.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Tour%20de%20France/mg2014_tdf_14_PCM0064.jpg

Pluchkin, Sicard and Schleck have almost reached them being just behind.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Tour%20de%20France/mg2014_tdf_14_PCM0069.jpg

The last bit is a bit less steep and so the top trio is able to keep that gap.
Samoilev looks beaten while Shikai could still come around.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Tour%20de%20France/mg2014_tdf_14_PCM0071.jpg

But i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/btc.png Teklehaimanot is too strong. The Bouygues rider wins on the Mont Faron. Shikai as 2nd with another good stage result for Vesuvio though. Samoilev as 3rd with the next Red Bull podium.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Tour%20de%20France/mg2014_tdf_14_PCM0073.jpg

Navarro and Ignatenko come in next 21s later.
Hivert, Pluchkin, Sicard and Schleck are all counted into the same group which means they will gain some time to the next.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Tour%20de%20France/mg2014_tdf_14_PCM0074.jpg

Spilak one of todays losing riders leading the next with +49 losing 28s to his opponents.
Also in there Taaramae, Phinney and Amador, who gain more time on Madrazo in the top5 fight.
A little bit later Dekker comes in solo 1'11 behind.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Tour%20de%20France/mg2014_tdf_14_PCM0076.jpg

With +1'38 Kritskiy, Keinath and Madrazo, who just can`t find his rythm in this race. Purely underperforming by the Spaniard.
Coming in next are Kohl with 2'02 and Fothen/Uran with 2'14.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Tour%20de%20France/mg2014_tdf_14_PCM0078.jpg

Last rider ahead of the peloton is Keizer with 2'39 with the peloton including Tenorio, Monsalve, Intxausti, König, Marquez etc. all losing 3'16 being led by Santander.

Henao Montoya still not looking good losing 4'29 in the next group.
