The end is nigh, with just a time trial from Milan to Bergamo, and then up the hill to Citta Alta, Bergamo's old town. The reverse of the final descent of Sunday's real life Il Lombardia!
Many of the GC positions are settled, with large gaps between riders, but that does not make this stage a formality!
Many of the pure time triallists failed to make it to the start of today in Milan, but opening stage runner up Malori did.
It wasn't much use for him as he was beaten by Bauer of the other early starters, by 1 second. The early leader though was our first maglia rosa, Ignatiev, with 24 seconds on Bauer, 25 on Malori.
Interesting to note though that having passed Sinkewitz on the run in to the finish, Ignatiev saw the German ride past him on the final climb.
A hint, if really needed, that Ignatiev would not be winning today's stage. 32nd overall Grivko was the first to beat him.
One position in GC that might have changed is 19th place. The weaker time triallist Valls starting just 19 seconds ahead of Popovych. But remarkably Valls actually beat Popovych today - a big ride for Santander too, as they hunt a 2 minute Teams Classification gain on Pendleton's.
No change in any of the other GC positions from 11 to 18, although Brambilla very nearly lost 14th place to yesterday's stage winner Kolesnikov, holding on by 11 seconds.
The rider staying in 11th overall is Fothen, but he is finishing strong, and takes the lead of the time trial, 25 seconds up on Grivko.
Martin shows good recovery as he is able to slot into 3rd - actually beating Ignatiev today. He has risen to the occasion, just as Valls did, in the teams classification fight.
Van den Broeck has not been the most visible rider in the race, but had his best mountain stage yesterday, and holds an outside chance of moving up to 8th overall.
He beats Rujano by 43 seconds, but needed a further 34 to do that.
Van den Broeck does go into 2nd on the stage though, 5 seconds off the pace of Fothen.
Make that 3rd though, as Nibali is next and takes the new fastest time! 22 seconds faster than Fothen.
Nibali had duelled Trofimov, the second time trial winner, all day - one second up at both the first and second check point.
The final Bergamo climb was key though, as Trofimov raised his pace to take a 3 second lead.
That ride sees Trofimov return to 5th place overall - it was always going to be a formality to move back ahead of Sella, who was 1'49 slower.
Another minute off the pace and Sella would have actually slipped behind Nibali!
Alarcon has had a breakthrough Grand Tour with 4th place after some impressive climbing. Today though he is nearly caught by Madrazo.
The Spaniard earns his most underwhelming Grand Tour podium yet, and will take no stage win from the race, going 7 seconds slower than Trofimov for 3rd. Alarcon was exactly 2 minutes behind Trofimov, holding onto 4th overall by 39 seconds.
The man on a mission today though was Pluchkin. A couple of times it looked like he could win this race, but the Mountains didn't quite fall in his favour. He charges around the course today though, and will take his 2nd stage win, beating Trofimov by 14 seconds.
At the first check point, nearly half way through the course, Pluchkin led Cunego by 42 seconds. Could the impossible happen, and he gain the required 2'13?
The lead was up to 1'11 on the entry to Bergamo, but Cunego stemmed the flow on the final climb to only lose a further 6 seconds. Across the line the Lotto - Australia Post rider comes to secure yet another Giro d'Italia triumph.
The close finish of the day is reserved for the Teams Classification. Santander beat Pendleton's on the day by 1'54. But Pendleton's hold on to the Teams Classification victory - by only 9 seconds!
The Points competition also had a close finish. Trofimov needed to win and have Cunego outside the Top 15. But Cunego was 13th, and Trofimov didn't win, so Cunego comes away with 2 jerseys from the race.
An aging Gomez Marchante secures an impressive King of the Mountains triumph, while youngster Dombrowski delivered a strong Grand Tour debut to take the U25 jersey.
