Here are the mountains again. Two long climbs. The 2nd and final might even be the longest in this race with ~30km. Having a bad day today makes you suffer a long time.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Middle%20East/mg2014_middleeast_8_PCM0276.jpg

6 breakaway riders today. And all of them are pretty good climbers:

First climb reached with Dell, Bonsucro, Nutresa and Live Nation doing the pace.
70km left and 5min gap.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Middle%20East/mg2014_middleeast_8_PCM0287.jpg

Already half way up the first, we have the first attack by i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/pbn.png Vrecer (19.).
He is immediately followed by i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/eub.png D. Fernandez (12.),i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ano.png Bakhin (45.), i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/lin.png Dabrowski (44.), i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/gnu.png Masuda (38.) and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/bon.png Paulinho (15.).

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Middle%20East/mg2014_middleeast_8_PCM0296.jpg

Kulhavy still has lots of support in the peloton and it`s Salas doing most work at the moment.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Middle%20East/mg2014_middleeast_8_PCM0299.jpg
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Middle%20East/mg2014_middleeast_8_PCM0302.jpg

Just ahead of the top the two groups fusion. Only Bakhin is still a bit behind.
More than 2'30 already for them.

5 ONCE rider in front of Kulhavy. And already before the 2nd climb the breakaway is caught with 35km to go.
Now the long suffering starts for many riders. Not only a very long climb. Also not the easiest with lots of high slopes.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Middle%20East/mg2014_middleeast_8_PCM0314.jpg

Who attacks next? Still a lot of riders in the group but ONCE is riding a very consistent pace at the moment.
49 riders left in the peloton and all GC riders.
Brilliant work by Jumabekov, Rojas Villegas and Esquivel. This allows Castano even to keep his free role next to Kulhavy.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Middle%20East/mg2014_middleeast_8_PCM0319.jpg

It took a long time until we saw the first attack on this mountain. That said, still 15km to go when we have serious attacks by the top GC riders.
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/gnu.png Ochoa Quintero
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/mlj.png Iglinski
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/scl.png V. Rodrigues
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/onc.png Kulhavy
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/nor.png Martinez
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/azt.png J. Rodriguez
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/azt.png Ardila
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/eub.png Parra Bustamante
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/bon.png Nicacio
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/spr.png Alizadeh
So this is more or less the best possible GC riders with some very few exceptions.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Middle%20East/mg2014_middleeast_8_PCM0330.jpg

More riders follow with a small gap. Those are:
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/del.png Raisin
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/cpl.png Sinelobov
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/mlj.png Schwab
This is definitely to the favour of Maloja`s manager seeing that his co-leader is not giving up on the GC.

Raisin though was the only rider making it to the front group, while the duo is still in between.
Behind it`s Colex and Jeannesson trying to keep a high pace. First is working for Sorensen, who missed the attacks while 2nd is going for himself or some teammates of this mountaineous Euskaltel squad.

So next to Sorensen biggest names behind are as well Castano, Fernandez, Herklotz, Paulinho, Saggiorato, Zoidl, Masuda to name a few.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Middle%20East/mg2014_middleeast_8_PCM0341.jpg
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Middle%20East/mg2014_middleeast_8_PCM0342.jpg

Seeing that the group is not small enough yet as also Schwacb made it into it, we see more attacks. Again the top3 climbers together with Nicacio, who seems to have a good day here.
So for the first time Kulhavy seems to struggle and still 10km to go.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Middle%20East/mg2014_middleeast_8_PCM0343.jpg

But the Czech can fight. With an impressive ride he jumps to them and now they have 39s to the next group of 7. Another minute to the 23 rider peloton.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Middle%20East/mg2014_middleeast_8_PCM0346.jpg

But it`s not to hide today that the top3 are the best climbers in the field as Kulhavy and Nicacio are dropped again. This climb here really makes some damage it seems.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Middle%20East/mg2014_middleeast_8_PCM0349.jpg

But yet again. Kulhavy drops Nicacio and is just behind the trio. Brilliant ride here. Can he eventually defend the GC lead?

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Middle%20East/mg2014_middleeast_8_PCM0350.jpg

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Middle%20East/mg2014_middleeast_8_PCM0351.jpg

Nicacio still in between the groups. With his time trial advantage he has good chances to finish high in the GC. In especially if he performs like this on the next mountain stages as well.
Behind i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/spr.png Alizadeh is not able to follow the 2nd group and is a bit behind.

The group around Sorensen is already quite a bit behind but Colex, Sorensen, Jeannesson and Sinelobov are still working.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Middle%20East/mg2014_middleeast_8_PCM0353.jpg

Last kilometer is reached already and neither is Kulhavy dropped nor the gap to Nicacio very big.
Ochoa Quintero in the lead.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Middle%20East/mg2014_middleeast_8_PCM0355.jpg

This time he won`t come back though. Kulhavy has no energy left to sprint unlike the other three.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Middle%20East/mg2014_middleeast_8_PCM0356.jpg

It was a close finish but in the end the "weakest " of those is winning the stage. Ochoa Quintero had a very good day and takes the stage and more important the bonus seconds ahead of Iglinski and Rodrigues. Definitely the three riders that are expected on the podium after today.
But we mustn`t forget Kulhavy. Impressive performance finishing just 15s behind, which unfortunately for him is not enough to defend the lead. 2s in the end too much and so Iglinski takes over. Rodrigues 8s in the GC now as 3rd.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Middle%20East/mg2014_middleeast_8_PCM0357.jpg

Nicacio with a nice 5th today losing 52s in the end. But more important for him gaining 26s on the next group, which includes Parra Bustamante, Raisin, Schwab, Martinez and the Azteca duo Rodriguez and Ardila.

Another 31s later Alizadeh with a decent ride even though he was not able to climb with the best.

The bigger group around the rest comes in another minute later.

GC wise Martinez is still 4th but the gap to Ochoa Quintero in 5th is becoming smaller. Rodriguez and Ardila still with a good GC position for Azteca, while Nicacio, Parra Bustamante and Schwab are the remaining top10 riders at the moment.
Raisin just outside, while Sorensen and Herklotz just drop out and are top15 at the moment.
