Tour of the Middle East - Stage 3
roturn
After a longer delay here the 3rd stage. In the remaining stages there won`t be any narrow road issue. Also the group, that was dropped in the narrow roads on the 2nd stage got the winner time. So no time loss for those and in especially Vitor Rodrigues, who was caught behind there.

A short top10 reminder after 2/12 stages:
1Yasmani MartinezTeam Nordeus7h58'58
2Silvio HerklotzTeam Puma - SAPs.t.
3Maxim IglinskiMaloja Mountain Nomads+ 8
4Alberto LosadaBonsucros.t.

8Chris Anker SørensenTeam Live Nations.t.
9Amaël MoinardEuskaltel-Bavaria Continental Team+ 20
10Delio FernandezEuskaltel-Bavaria Continental Teams.t.
Herklotz won stage 1 to show his great talent. Last years runner up and podium favourite Martinez the 2nd and leads the GC this way.

Today the 2nd of only two hilly stages. So the last stage, where pure climbers might struggle before we hit the mountains alongside some flat stage and one long time trial.
The finish is flat but 3 tough Cat.2 on the 2nd half.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Middle%20East/mg2014_middleeast_3_PCM0005.jpg

So far a group of five riders got a few seconds and collected the first prizes. That said the peloton is not happy with them and is chasing a lot.

But after the sprint and on the first tougher mountain they are caught again.

So a new group is needed and it seems we have one just after the climb.
Masuda
Losada
Sinelobov
Ebsen
All are +20s only but Losada, who is the best placed as 4th with 8s only. A bit behind them Dabrowski also with +20s only completes this very strong group.

After the 2nd Cat.2 climb it`s Maloja`s co-leader Schwab with an attack. He is quickly joined by Once`s Kulhavy. Leader or co-leader behind Castano is not decided yet I think as both are very similar talented.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Middle%20East/mg2014_middleeast_3_PCM0029.jpg

Many more riders are trying to follow including the yellow jersey:
Moinard
J. Rodrigues
Martinez
Sorensen
V. Rodrigues
Saggiorato

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Middle%20East/mg2014_middleeast_3_PCM0037.jpg

But all other favourites are just behind and so they don`t really create a gap but Moinard who joins the two first attackers.
Siam for V. Rodrigues now doing the pace behind as the favourite group is still including 64 riders and having a bit less than 2min on the leading group.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Middle%20East/mg2014_middleeast_3_PCM0042.jpg

Last climb reached and with 18km to go they have only 76s to the peloton with Schwab, Kulhavy and Moinard still in between.

What a descent by Kulhavy. Easily he jumps to the breakaway. He is known as one of the best descenders in the pro peloton but Schwab surely wasn`t believing his eyes as he had no chance to follow.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Middle%20East/mg2014_middleeast_3_PCM0052.jpg

It took the whole descent but now reaching the flat also Schwab joins the breakaway. Or at least parts as new attacks just split them.
But actually those four here are just 30s ahead of the peloton, that was closing the gap a lot.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Middle%20East/mg2014_middleeast_3_PCM0054.jpg

Leading solo is Kulhavy now as he did not stop after joining them and still going all-in on the descent. What a ride by him.
Losada a bit behind him and also Masuda solo ahead of the others.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Middle%20East/mg2014_middleeast_3_PCM0056.jpg

Nordeus with full control now for race leader Martinez. All three solo riders are in visible for them. But only 5km left.
The Schwab group just got caught.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Middle%20East/mg2014_middleeast_3_PCM0059.jpg

Also Masuda is caught with 3km left. Losada and Kulhavy still a bit ahead.
Best sprinters in the group of 52 riders should be J. Rodriguez, Millan, D. Fernandez.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Middle%20East/mg2014_middleeast_3_PCM0065.jpg

Last kilometer and Losada is almost caught. Kulhavy though still having a small gap.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Middle%20East/mg2014_middleeast_3_PCM0066.jpg

The peloton starts the sprint and catch Losada. But no real order here as all sprinters go for their own chance. All big names in the front rows.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Middle%20East/mg2014_middleeast_3_PCM0068.jpg

But it`s indeed Kulhavy taking the win and 20 bonus seconds. What a ride by him and taking risks on descents really can work it seems. Perfect ride.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Middle%20East/mg2014_middleeast_3_PCM0070.jpg

The peloton clearly had a gap. And it was indeed counted. 21s behind Kulhavy Poorseyedi leads in the group ahead of Martinez, who also gets some bonus seconds!
Diniz, Fahnert and Iglinski with a strong Maloja stage finish as next ahead of Millan.

So we have a new GC leader. Due to the gap, Kulhavy not only takes the stage but also conquers the yellow jersey.

Also to mention that we have one abandon. Offside the cameras Peilun Wu must have crashed as he did not finish the race. As one of the best helpers for Vitor Rodrigues this is a huge loss for him in the fight for the GC win.
