About 5 years ago I got hooked on cycling and I am a good cycling simulator away from being a true hardcore cycling fanatic. I am about to purchase PCM14, however, upon several days of reading reviews, forum posts, etc., I am a little bit overwhelmed with the expansion packs, and the vast DB's.
I am not new to simulators as I have played many detailed sports sims for years. However, I know I am going to have a huge learning curve with the game itself so I want to get my initial installation and setup done some what right the first time, then I can go from there. I could not find any true threads that cover a complete start up. If a one or a few do exist please direct me to it.
I will be playing the game solo in career mode. What is the ideal PCM14 set up to get me on my way. Can I run the game straight up with the patches? or Just use the real name DB? Does the PCM.Daily Expansion pack cover all the basic needs. Just looking for the sim to be somewhat true and hopefully before the end of the season I could put my Canadian boy Ryder Hesjedal on a podium.
If you are a beginner I recommend you put your settings on easy, secondly I would recommend watching tutorials on youtube (or just watching gameplay). About the DB, I recommend the Expansion pack because it technically brings you a whole new game, it gives you more teams, races, riders and also real shirts and equipment. Thirdly make sure you have fun with your career, if you don't enjoy the one you are doing switch to a new one.
