So, I have searched the forum but didn't find the answer I was looking for.
I'm currently fine-tuning a 1973 database that I have made from scratch, and I want it to be as near to perfect as possible. However, this means I need to do the Soviet Union, Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia - which isn't a problem. The problem occurs when I need to add names to those countries - or more precisely - the regions inside them.
For Soviet Union I have made the succeeding countries (Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Estonia etc. etc.) as regions, but I can't seem to figure out how I assign specific rider names to let's say Kazakhstan. I know it's possible as Pays Vasco has specific names, and I have tried to do it the same way, but every region keep having the default names - which I find unrealistic as people in Latvia and Kazakhstan do not have the same names etc.
So, any of you database-gods that know how to do?

You can divide the USSR in different regions. For these regions it is possible to add a names list of its own. I don't know the exact instructions though.

It is exactly what I have done so far. The problem is that the names for the region Kazakhstan is not working - they will get default Soviet names instead. |

Are you sure everything is spelt correctly, as in it's spelt exactly the same as it is in your DB.

I'm testing my way forward with Czechoslovakia so far..
In DB:
Czechoslovakia has constant CZK in STA_Country and 1548 and 10068 as ID for flag and name.
and has the following regions:
Czech_Republic which has 10069 as ID for name
Slovakia which has 10070 as ID for name
(I've made both in the local.cdb the same way as all other regions to distinguish between the countries nowadays)
In local.cdb:
Czech Republic has constant Region_CzechRep
Slovakia has constant Region_SlovakRep
^ This might be the problem?
In regen.xml: I have written:
<CZK>
<Czech_Republic>
names
</Czech_Republic>
<default>
names
</default>
</CZK> |

Well, it seems that the constant in STA_regions and in the local.cdb has to be the same as well... Of course
I think I have solved it |

Try changing the regions name in the regen.xml so it's the same as it is in your local.cdb, I think it's these that have to match.

As I wrote just above your post it seems that all 3 have to match.
However, new problem ( ) Approximately 90 % of the riders in regions Czech Republic and Slovakia have the default name for CZK.. (Though I have only added 1 default name...) |

What happens if you remove that default name?

hmm... strange, I'm sure I've seen a regen file that allows the 3 Swiss regions (separated by language) to have separate names without a default section in it.
If you try running it with just Slovakia having it's own names and only 1 default name does Slovakia still take a lot of the default name aswell?
Also are there enough names for the individual regions to cover the number of riders they generate? It might just be that it's running out and going to the default but I've no idea why it would do that instead of doubling the names for the region.

I have taken all the names from Czech Republic and Slovakia (the countries originally in the file) and put them as the names for the regions and then added one default name, but as I mentioned approx. 90 % of the riders use the default name.
I will try what you said with Slovakia, though I'm not sure it will work. |

I'd be surprised if it did but there's a chance that having a region that takes just the default names will help. I'd not have any idea why though but it seems like it's worth checking.

Okay, so I tested it:
In regen.xml I've got:
Czech Republic names: 0
Slovakia names: 49
default names: 1
In my game I get:
All Czech Rep riders with default name
8 of 12 Slovakia riders with default name
EDIT:
I've duplicated the names for Slovakia which gives 98 (only first names btw.)
This gives 8 of 14 riders in game with default..
