Is it possible, like in FM to get fired or be assigned to another job thrugh a career game? And if so, how long and what does it take to get offers from other teams??

They removed this feature quite a while ago. Eyolfur said "There are no Jose Mourinhos in cycling, how often do you see guys like Patrick Lefevre changing teams? Never." That's the reasoning about them removing the option.

That is hopeless. It just makes the game more monoton and boring. Also the funpart is to start with a completely nohoper-team, and then be able jo jump more quickly to the bigger teams.
Its just so typical Cyanid. Thx for answer bro |

I don't see any fun in starting with a no hope team only to switch to a bigger team later. If I want to play a big team, I select it. Deliberately wasting time seems useless to me.
But this game allows you to find other sponsors and once you find better sponsors you also have to find better riders. You might want to take this challenge.
It is strange how everybody requests more realism in the game but still somebody has to complain if a unrealistic feature has been taken out.
I am happy that Cyanide changes the game. It would be a waste of money to buy the same game year after year. |

You can still change teams in the offseason with an editor. I believe its in the Tips and Tricks section.

And why exactly is it unrealistic - as a sportsdirector / manager - to switch teams in the end of the season? It happends every season.
I just think it would be nice to accomplish certain things and then switch team after some seasons. And that has nothing to do with "buying the same game year after year"! |

Example(s): Kim Andersen has been a coach for the most of the Schelck brothers prof career. When they went from Team Saxo to todays Trek he went along.
Former Saxo Bank sportsdirector Dan Frost made a move to Team Sky in december 2013.
Scott Sutherland former owner and technical director stopped his coroporation with Saxo Bank and joined in with Cervelo.
And so on... Sorry to say but either you know shit about cycling or you are just misinformed. |

None of those are actually "team owners" which Eyolfur is referring too.

And so what? If you´re an owner in the game wouldn´t you have more influence on the finances, the marketing, the 'behind the curtains' decisions and not full control from the car, as you have in the game?
Your arguments are nonsen. Of course the game is lso a sportsdirector simulation and therefore it would be more 'realistic' i you had different career opporunities! |

Erm, you are in the game a team/general manager like Madiot, Bernadeau, Riis, Lavenu, Brailsford or Lefevre.
You aren't in the game a coach (you have to hire them in the game already) or a directeur sportif (race manager/officer).

Correct. But Riis is not able to be at two races at the same time. So why can you be controlling riders in 2 different countries if your one person.
I mean. Why make limitations on how i imagine the game. I think its fun to build something up and then when i get an offer from another team, then i start a new career with the new team. In that way i play with almost the same riders in a 1-5 year spand. But without this option i just lost my motivation... I just completed a career with Saxo and the i wanted to start at a smaller team and see wich opporunities i could get... Now it's just dosen't mather anymore... |

And there is a clear line from Brailsford to Riis (as his former role as the owner), even with bad results Riis job would not be in danger. Its he other way around with SIR Brailsford and SKY high |

Your point is?
This is a game. That's the reason why you can be at two races at the same time. That's why you can set the effort of the riders.

I understand Marber's point - it perhaps adds a different angle on the game if you can get hired by a bigger team based on good results. However its probably more realistic for cycling to grow a team, It just seems a bit alien if you've played football manager a lot, like I have. The more recent editions of FM do a good job of keeping limits on progressing small clubs - if they're from a tiny village its doubtful they'll ever win the champions league. So progress often involves team switching.
PCM being based on cycling has teams which are far more fluid and arent limited by a supporter base, so you dont really need to change. You can secure new sponsorships and change the teams identity that way - even getting prestigious or legendary historical sponsors which is really cool.
Or as already mentioned, just use an editor and switch teams if you desire! |
