Dot vs Maintain Position
Londoner
Throughout the race does it make a difference when using the dot in the peleton instead of using maintain position at effort 70?

Obviously the dot is very powerful for climbs.. but does it affect the rider in the early parts of the stage?

You can read the online guide to find out more about the 3D settings: https://www.cyclin.../guide2014

Simply put: The effort setting on "maintain position" is the maximum effort a rider is willing to use whereas the effort setting on "individual effort" (the dot) is the effective effort a rider is using.

Example:
Put a rider in the peloton on dot and then adjust the effort so that he maintains his position. This is the actual effort needed to maintain his position. So even if you set him to "maintain position" at 99 he will only use that needed effort.

You could put your main riders at "maintain position" at 90 to reduce the risk of them falling back on a climb. Alternatively, he might save energy when you let him fall back but you risk that he falls out of the group.
