Tour d'Rwanda - Stage 3
roturn
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Tour%20Rwanda/mg2014_rwanda_3_PCM0053.jpg

Similar stage to yesterdays sprint win by i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/afr.png Rangel. So no surprise that he is also one of todays favourite. The late hill again could hurt other sprinters starting with i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/boi.png Drapac, even though he did pretty well yesterday until the final 500m.
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/flg.png Vanderaerden really needs to step up as a 22nd surely is too less for him.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Tour%20Rwanda/mg2014_rwanda_3_PCM0054.jpg

One rider more than yesterday as a group of 5 attacked and was allowed to create a gap.
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ken.png Kimeli
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/onc.png Carapaz
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/eub.png Duenas
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/tas.png Hampton
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/scl.png Uwizeyimana
None of those any danger in the GC in case that they don`t gain more than 4'46 in which case Carapaz would take the lead.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Tour%20Rwanda/mg2014_rwanda_3_PCM0060.jpg

The usual 4 sprinter teams as also Vontobel for race leader Wyss are doing the work. 96km and almost 6min. So at the moment we have a new provisional GC leader but the gap is melting.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Tour%20Rwanda/mg2014_rwanda_3_PCM0063.jpg

First sprint and without any interest Carapaz takes 6 points ahead of Hampton and Kimeli.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Tour%20Rwanda/mg2014_rwanda_3_PCM0065.jpg

Also the next sprint did not interest them and this time Hampton in front with Duenas and Uwizeyimana next.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Tour%20Rwanda/mg2014_rwanda_3_PCM0068.jpg

The KoM was a bit more contested as Carapaz already had 2 points but more than him were interested.
Kimeli in the end taking the points, also good news for him team mate and KoM leader Kudus.
Duenas as 2nd also takes away points from Carapaz, who only passes the line as 3rd.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Tour%20Rwanda/mg2014_rwanda_3_PCM0071.jpg

Last sprint of the day. Duenas ahead of Kimeli and Carapaz.
But with 32km left you can already see the peloton in the far background. ~2min left of their former 6min gap.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Tour%20Rwanda/mg2014_rwanda_3_PCM0074.jpg

3 sprint trains today are forming when the gap is down to 20s with 4km to go.
BoI, Africa and Repsol. So again no train for Fletcher, where Vanderaerden hangs behind the Repsol train.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Tour%20Rwanda/mg2014_rwanda_3_PCM0090.jpg

Project: Africa against Bank of Ireland it seems as the Repsol train lost their speed and is not working.
Vanderaerden was able to hang behind Drapac with Machado being right behind him.
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/tas.png Meenhorst out of nowhere behind Rangel in a good position.
A bit behind Andriato, Poulhies and Wyss.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Tour%20Rwanda/mg2014_rwanda_3_PCM0094.jpg

Perfect situation for Drapac and Rangel as both have still at least one rider ahead with 1,3km to go.
Andriato also back at Machado`s wheel hoping for a fast final kilometer with Uugunbayar, Caethoven, Wyss, Meenhorst, Poulhies all behind those.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Tour%20Rwanda/mg2014_rwanda_3_PCM0098.jpg

Machado through the middle with Andriato trying the right lane with Vanderaerden going left behing Drapac.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Tour%20Rwanda/mg2014_rwanda_3_PCM0102.jpg

Andriato looks tired as his teammate is the faster today.
At the moment it`s a duo each by BoI, Africa and Repsol with Vanderaerden and Uugunbayer trying to join the fight.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Tour%20Rwanda/mg2014_rwanda_3_PCM0104.jpg

Machado takes the lead with 200m and only Rangel looks to be able to challenge him as he goes out of his slipstream.
Andriato, Day and Drapac next are not much faster.
Also Selig, Caethoven or Sutton were able to join the top10 fight.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Man%20Game%202014/Tour%20Rwanda/mg2014_rwanda_3_PCM0106.jpg

But the winner is Machado, who is able to keep a small gap to Rangel in 2nd. It`s a very nice win for him. Not only today but also for the GC, where he is within the same time as race leader Wyss now but not taking the jersey.

Day makes it a great stage for Africa as well as 3rd while Andriato comes in 4th!
Drapac the fastest of the other teams as 5th ahead of Selig, Uugunbayar, Caethoven, Lang and Sutton.

So once again no Vanderaerden in the top10, which must be disappointing. Also Dupont wasn`t able to repeat yesterdays sprint.

Tomorrows stage then will and has to decide about the final classement. Stay tuned for the uphill finish.
