Tour de Beauce - stage 1
Smowz
i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a0-parcours_zpsd8b788fb.jpg

The opening stage here in Canada is rated as a hilly one with a tricky triple climb at the end. Hardly likely to cause startling gaps but should be a keen contest for the stage win and the first leaders jersey.

We get attacks from the gun and so the early sprint is one for the early attacking birds.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a1_zps8e3dc56c.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/flg.png Mclay takes it from i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/onc.png Schachmann and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/lin.png Lindau., However these riders do not make it in our break of the day.

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/rbc.png Naud
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/gnu.png Quintana
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/tas.png Semple
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/cdb.png Wengelin
are our intrepid adventurers.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a2_zps392775f0.jpg

The latter two will share the King of the Mountains jersey today with 12 points apiece. Wengelin winning the 2nd category climb in the final third of the stage ahead of Semple.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a3_zpsc03720f8.jpg

Semple won the mid stage sprint ahead of Quintana and Wengelin, the Australian youngster putting himself in a good position to take the youth jersey for today too.

The break hold that dangerous two minute lead with 35km to go over the pack. But things get a bit lumpy from here to the finish, reacting to some criticism from team manager BikeX i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/scl.png Poorsayedi attacks the pack who are slumbering slightly.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a4_zps1f9020cb.jpg

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/boi.png McConvey joins him over a i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ioa.png In-n-Out Racing Powered by Auchan led pack.

As reported in the preview there are so many solid hill riders here that we get more moves from fresh interested riders:
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/gnu.png Losada
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/onc.png Jumebekov also go on the attack.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a5_zps1e695678.jpg

However it is the powerhouse i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/vtb.png Team Vontobel who shut down this first forey.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a6_zps7a6da615.jpg

This attacking and counter-attacking has led to our early morning break being nuetralised however having been caught i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/boi.png McConvey goes again with 13km to go.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a7_zps7e25f8ad.jpg

Team Vontobel are not getting a break from this pacing and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/scl.png Poorseyedi attacks to bridge to McConvey this time.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a8_zps195ed260.jpg

McConvey sinks back to the pack but Pourseyedi continues out alone under the 10km to go banner.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a9_zpsf2308fe3.jpg

A sprinters group that includes chrono man i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/rse.png Vassdal gets dropped under this pace over the small climbs.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a10_zpsc0919049.jpg

Team Vontobel seem happy enough to allow Pourseyedi to maintain his gap even take the stage win as now i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ioa.png In-n-Out Racing Powered by Auchan once again come to the front with a new ally in i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/del.png Dell - 361° Racing

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a11_zpsa74f7cbb.jpg

They maintain this status quo of Pourseyedi holding 30 to 40 seconds over the pack until 5km to go and all hell breaks loose with i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/flg.png Passalacqua attacking.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a12_zps5f3c7e88.jpg

The Italian is one of the best punchy men here i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/azt.png Veilleux and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/gnu.png Losada join him.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a13_zps83220695.jpg

However In and Out Racing are keeping these three well under control.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a14_zpsa7f730d2.jpg

Poorseyedi holding about 20 seconds on this chase. The Iranian is really holding out superbly well. He is holding off this determined ride by In and Out.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a15_zpsbc40ee27.jpg

The French squad has reeled in the late three attackers but coming under the kite the Iranian rider still has a nice lead - this would be an excellent power show of a victory if he were to take this.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a16_zps659bf2c4.jpg

No real organisation behind other than the pacers who suddenly realise there is a chance of a high placing.

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ioa.png Rodas, Kern, Di Gregorio
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/del.png Ospina

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/bon.png Soto Pereira
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/tas.png Woods, Tiernan Locke

are in the picture with i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/del.png Rosskopf and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/ioa.png Gaimon also close for their teams who have done a lot of the chase work.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a17_zps4cd8f955.jpg

Not much inroads are made though to Pourseyedi who can celebrate super win.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a18_zpsa7861d0f.jpg

No real time gaps (perhaps thanks to celebration) and behind In and Out sweep up the bonus seconds through Rodas and Gaimon.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a19_zps48ccd449.jpg

Rosskopf takes 4th and decent finish from him over the likes of Tiernan-Locke and i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/microjerseys14/vtb.png Montaguti also in the sweep.

i187.photobucket.com/albums/x62/Smowz/Saxobank%20pcm%20story/a20_zps54f34884.jpg

Not really much to shout about from the hilly riders today with minor bonifications, however certainly plenty to cheer for Iran and Siam Cement with a fine individual display from Pourseyedi.
