This thing will definitely make me buy FIFA 15. It's so bugged, so slow and it's utter shite. As I am playing FIFA 14 pirated version and I can't play it online, I decided to try this. Currently having a players from ~70 to ~82 ratings in my main squad. My score is pretty good, with 4 draws, 8 wins and 1 lost game. My name is admirschleck there, so if you want, add me to play some.
However, this is what I found on internet. Seems like this game is even worse than I thought. Basically, the point of this long post in quote below is that this isn't F2P game anymore, once you reach a level of gold players and stuff (because contracts runs out too quick). Here's the original post, definitely worth reading:
Hey guys, just to help you out, before you start playing you should know something more about the game.
An Online Football (Soccer - Fussball) Free to Play EA/FIFA Game
THE IDEA:
First of all, its not a bad game.Since its a game about football its going to have a lot of players around the world.
The game have a big potential and can be a major game in the new "e-sports" game market. Since there is a lot of players (game players) from around the world for you to buy for you team and also a lot of items, its a huge game and it will take long before you think it is boring.
Just my opinion for sure, but i do really see a lot of potential for this game.
Free to play?:
Calling this game Free to Play its not really right (at least for now).
At first you may think it is a F2P kind of game but after playing for some time you will realize that it isn't.
You can have a team with any kind of combination of players and each player have its position and its rating. You team can be a bronze, silver, gold or even a mixed team (based on its players).
The ratings are:
Bronze - Player rating up to 64
Silver - Player rating ranges from 65 to 74
Gold - Player rating 75 or above
To play the matches your team players need to have a contract. These contracts have a number of matches that your team player can play based on the team player rating.
Example: Bronze contract - Gives a bronze team player 5 soccer matches, or 2 matches for a silver team player, or 1 match for a gold team player.
At first you'll see that you can play with your bronze team with no problems. You get just a few coins after the match and you get a prize (coins) if you win a championship.
These championships have around 10 matches.
When you are playing with a bronze rating team you will see that you can keep playing and buying more contracts for you team with no problems. Well, except that you will get very few coins, but its the only "free" way to play at first.
As long as you move to Silver and Gold, you simply cannot play it anymore as a F2P game.
Just a simple example:
You get around 3 contracts when you buy a "gold package".
This package can be bought with real money or in game coins.
For you to keep a team of at least 12 players you will need to buy 4 of these packages and the contracts for your 12 players are going to last for around 2 championships.
This package costs 7.5K, so you'll need 30K only to be able to play with your team.
Now lets assume that you won these 2 championships, you will get around 8K after each championship.
So the cost for 2 championships (around 18 games) is around 30K and you'll get only 16K.
You will also get around 12 gold players by buying these packages but they are "bad" players usually and can be sold for around 1K each.
So in the end it is like this:
30K Cost of 18 matches
16K Your prize
12K Money you got by selling some players.
In the end you lose 2K (coins) after these games.
So, it is really a F2P game?
Well, for NOW, it isn't.
I guess most people is aware of how a F2P game works, but for know, they are yet far from it. For now, as long as you want to have a nice team and play some nice matches, it is not an F2P game.
We all know that they need money to keep the game and make it better and im totally ok with it, no one works for free, but they really need to change this and think about some new ways to make "real" money. But not by forcing the player to pay if he/she wants to keep playing.
The Game Itself:
As i said before it is a great game.
I cannot go deep into this because the last Fifa i played was Fifa 06 i think, but the game looks nice, it just needs a lot of work.
The engine is probably dated, maybe it is the engine from Fifa 08-09, im not sure, but im sure it isn't from Fifa 13.
For now it looks more like an Alpha than a Beta game.
The controller doesn't work within the menus, only on matches and also it doesn't work for penalty.
There are some small bugs/glitches and some big bugs.
There is also a game breaking bug - When you get to lvl 50 your profile will reset to lvl 0. You will keep your team and items but you cannot play online anymore. Still this is something for now.
What to expect?:
Well, i hope im wrong, but if things are going to be like they are now, this game is going to be dead in no time.
There is almost no feedback from EA about this game, you cannot get any response from developers, and there is no real system to report bugs.
For now you only see EA team talking about new packages for you to buy, almost nothing else.
You feel like they just got an old Fifa game engine, developed a system for online only and got some servers up and running, that's it.
Its obvious that they need to make money out of it if we want a better game, BUT, they are not going to have a better game if they don't put some money in it first.
Anyway, just IMHO.
As i said i think it is a great game. I am Brazillian and i haven't played Fifa for years, and also im not a big fan of soccer (im more into racing :smileyhappy: ) and still, this game got my attention. So i really hope they are going to make this game a nice game, and it can be a great game, but for what im seeying now, feels like this game is going to be shut down in a few months.
Just remember one thing, this is all true for NOW, 12/06/2013. If you are reading this in 2014 or latter, maybe i was wrong and they are doing things right.
