Stage 2 is a brutal hilly stage, with 2 second and 2 first category climbs, this should really thin out the GC candidates, and leave us with a manageble amount of favourites for the rest of the race. The favourites for today are yesterday's second and third, Iglinski and Pozdnyakov, as well as Fernandez.
On the first climb of the day, Chernetskiv and Pranata go clear.
Pranata takes the points at the top.
There are plenty of points left, but the bunch are happy for Puma to roll over the top, with Ringheim taking third.
Schwab has fallen, which is bad news for Iglinski as he could be a key domestique today.
Vrecer also falls on the descent and has to get paced back by his team mates, luckily Puma have kept the pace reasonably low.
Pranata and Chernetskiv are both solid puncheurs in a race that is hilly specialist light, so they may have a good chance of staying away today. They seem to be more focussed on the mountain jersey though, and they attack each other again and again in the final 2km of the climb, before Pranata finally claims the summit.
Puma are aware of the danger though, and keep the gap to just 4 minutes over the top, where Markus claims third.
Yet another fall, this time it's race favourite Rodrigues.
No one drops back to help him, surprisingly, but he still manages to make it back on the next uphill segment.
In the first sprint of the day Chernetskiv gets his revenge.
Polivoda jumps off the front of the bunch to take third.
Chernetskiv continues his revenge by winning the 1st category climb, it's now all down to the final summit.
With 87km t go and the gap at 6 minutes, Nordeus and Siam Cement have started to chase, thus Borisavlievic takes third place.
Pranata surprises Chernetskiv and attacks clear on the descent.
Chernetskiv just about catches Pranata at the sprint point, but not enough to pass him.
The lack of unity in the break is obvious, and the gap has dropped to 4 minutes by the time the peloton reach the sprint. Polivoda takes third again. 65km to go.
10km of climbing, then 30km of descending to go. Puma are controlling the breaks lead at 3 minutes.
Siam Cement are now pushing the pace again, and it's too much for 2nd overall Kragh Andersen.
As the peloton approach the summit Bochman and Fernandez attack.
Over the top Chernetskiv manages too put in a final surge to take the climb and the mountains jersey, his haul of 48 points will take some overtaking.
Only 1'22" later Fernandez goes over the top with a small gap. Siam Cement have closed down the break perfectly so far. Does Rodrigues have the legs to finish it off today?
Chernetskiv is now pushing on solo ahead of Pranata
Sinelobov, Rodriguez and Rodrigues are poorly positioned, and find themselves in a 30 man group that misses a split. Siam Cement have to slow down now.
Siam Cement all drop back to help their leader, but up front Nordeus and Puma are showing no mercy.
Nordeus and Siam Cement have worked so well together over the past two days, but now they have a 20km TTT with Vitor Rodrigues' GC hopes on the line.
Compal and Azeteca are chipping in to help Siam Cement, but the gap has gone out 50% to 1'30".
Up front Chernetskiv still has a 20 second lead over Pranata, but the bunch are only 52 seconds further back.
Nordeus are still distancing the second group, but their pace isn't quick enough for everyone, so Fernandez, Bochman and Yeung all attack.
10km to go and the attacks have gone no where, this is shaping up to be a sprint.
Pranata is pulled back with 6.4km to go, while Chernetskiv has just 20 seconds. This is another day, where if the break had just worked together, they would have made it.
With 3km to go Puma take over to try and set Herklotz up for another victory. Pozdnyakov was too far forward yesterday, but no he's too far back, in about 25th wheel. Fernandez is well placed, and the second best sprinter here, which makes his attacking seem all the more stupid.
And the entire peloton start to sprint, with Chernetskiv still 20 seconds up the road.
Ringheim leads the charge towards Chernetskiv's back wheel as both Fernandez and Herklotz move forward.
Chernetskiv's day in front is over, it was a valiant effort.
Fernandez is moving guickly down the left of the road, while Martinez comes through on the right.
Herklotz is in Fernandez's slipstream, but Losada is wating just behind him.
With 900m to go Fernandez is starting to fade. Martinez, Herklotz and Losada are all flat out.
It's between Martinez and Losada.
But Martinez has enough to hold on for victory.
Losada holds second froma fast finishing Sorensen. Popov then takes 4th in front of Schwab.
2 minutes later the chase group comes in, shattered and heartbroken.
On a countback Martinez takes the yellow jersey, and he leads the green outright. Herklotz has to make do with white.
