Three races into the season, three different teams have won a race, and already the battles commence in the rankings. Tom Boonen did enough to beat Sam Bewley in the Tour of Qatar for the first of many early season battles between them. It is enough to give Pokerstars.com the early PT lead, although Becherovka have already closed the gap in Herbiers. Overall race performances of 1st, 3rd and 5th have given Vesuvio-Accumalux a strongly consistent start, and they take 3rd.
Team Bpost are the best placed newly promoted team, ahead of defending champions Wikipedia in 5th. ING and Rothaus - two relegation tipped teams - join them in the Top 10 at this stage.
A slow start for pre-season favourits Festina-Canal+ sees them 15th, 1 point ahead of Team B&O, but they are faring better than some other of last year's PT teams. The bottom 4 positions are all from existing teams, with Prio-Porto the only new team to be in a relegation position.

Over in the individual standings Boonen has an early 101 lead over Bewley. Marcel Kittel is perhaps a surprise presence in 3rd, the highest of many time well placed time triallists ahead of Coppel, Fiedler, Posthuma and Cornu in the Top 10. The two races most suited to pure time triallists have now passed though, so their time at the top is likely to be brief!

Perfect start by Bpost in the new division! Aker the biggest disappointers so far, but they will surely pick up soon.
Festina has already some catching up to Becherovka and Wikipedia. Pleased to see Rothaus in Top 10, hopefully they can maintain similar form and beat the odds and stay in PT.

I agree with this
Well it is nice to already have a good number of points on the board but with the GC riders starting up soon I expect to slowly slip down until the cobbled races start up again.

Slow start, but that was expected. Us winning is never going to happen though, as we don't have any race winning types besides Spilak.

Low in the rankings here, pretty much as expected after Quatar and Chrono. Hopefully the next races will give us some points

I like this
I don´t expect anything from P-N, but T-A and Catalunya could possibly bring me some decent scoring, keeping my team in first half of PT ranking after February.

Happy with the start, better than what I expected. Hopefully I will be still close to the first place after Nice/Tirreno/Catalunya, if yes, then this season can be really good for me, I believe.

I feel as if Vesuvio have had a really decent start to the year all told and thus should continue bar the cobbles.
I have the trifecta of stage races to get through, though we have some ambitions there this year. Hoping to keep the points ticking over a bit better in those.
I wonder how far Santander will be marooned by, by the time their dastardly duo get going?

There's no hiding in the rankings, we've been a massive disappointment, both in China and Qatar. I just hope it'll turn for the better soon.
Simply Red Bull with a great start, the same goes for most of the newly promoted teams. It will be very interesting to see how the three coming stage races plays out thinking of points. It doesn't look too good for us, seeing how Impey and Van Heerden messed up in Qatar, but we shall see. |

A little scared by Vesuvio's strong start.
I should see things pick up as from here through the spring monuments I have Phinney, Van Garderen, or Summerhill (Denifl doesn't pop up again till the Giro/Vuelta double) leading in all but one race. I'm really hoping consistent placings around 5th in an array of races will take me to the top this year.

I hope after the "3 races in a week" week we are at the top half.

This is ugly so far, but the early season always is for us.

I hope to still be around the top10-15 after the triple header now. I could score in all 3 with GC riders and sprinters in each, which surely gives me an advantage over other teams I guess.
That said in none I will score huge, which could be the dilemma as I first have to score as much in 3 races as one dimensional teams in that 1 race.
But I hope to be in the top10 after those and then with solid scoring in the cobbles.
Coming to the real mountains will then really hurt me, so I need a good gap until then. First optimism at least for me after the start of the season. |
