Question from a PCM2010 player
alspacka
My rubbish laptop can only just cope with 2010 in 800x600. I'm thinking of getting a new one, and so PCM13/14.
It seems from videos that the bulk of the game is the same. Any major improvements?
The main thing that bothers me is with time gaps. I mean, you can finish a clear 10-15 seconds ahead and be given the same time. Is this still the same these days? It makes slightly hilly stage races a bit of a joke in my experience.

There's huge difference between PCM10 and PCM13/14 and I think you should really buy one of these two. I'd personaly wait for PCM14, but you can also get PCM13 if you have enough money at the moment.

I think that there are still few little issues with time gaps, but I also know that system has changed alot from PCM10. It's not likeable that more than 3-4 guys will finish together in a mountain/hilly stage, so that shouldn't be big problem.

Ok thanks. Do you mind expanding a little on the improvements, other than graphically?
Career mode is all I'm interested in.
It's just I've spent so much time customising my database just right, I'm reluctant to leave it.

Oh, and this might be a good place to also ask:
I'm in the same boat as alspacka regarding the fact that my PC can only cope with PCM2010. I'm also considering an upgrade, but what will be the ideal PC setup at minimal cost? As in processor, graphics card, RAM, etc, etc. (I'm referring to a setup up for PCM13 or even PCM14).

My computer knowledge only extends to coding HTML and making PCM jerseys, so I'll appreciate a bit of advice. My budget will be probably about €600. So I'm not looking for a top end rig, just something for a relatively inexpensive price Smile

I've just moved up from 2011 to 2013, so I can offer a belated reply on the career mode changes.

1. You no longer get money by winning races, you have to meet your sponsors goals for this, you can renegotiate the goals, but it will impact on the payment.

2. A season planner is now part of the game.

3. You have to negotiate goals for the season with your riders, this will generate their training schedule.

4. You are now given deadlines for requesting wild cards and rearranging your schedule.

There may also be changes to signing new riders, but with IAM, I can't afford to sign anyone yet, so I'll have ti wait and see Smile .

Okay, I missed these comments despite that I gave advice before. However, I'll try to answer all of them now.

alspacka - Little improvements, you say. Well, it was a long time ago since i played PCM10 last time so I just don't know what exactly were the features there, but believe me, you won't regret buying PCM13 (or even better, wait for PCM14 who'll be out in a month). Emphasis in past few versions were always put on the Career, and that's the part of the game where you'll find biggest improvements. Fitness is improved, gameplay is much better, there are HD jerseys, much better graphics generally, different "bar" in-game which is more cool and stuff like that.

Things that Steerpike named are also some of the improvements, too. Thought, PCM11 also had some pretty serious changes compared to PCM10.

Aidan - Well, as I said in PCM14 thread before, I am running PCM13 on let's say "very high" settings on 350$ PC. However, this is what should run PCM14 perfectly and I think can be found at around 600$:

2(4)GB DDR5 or 4(8)GB DDR3
8GB RAM (You don't need more, believe me)
i5 Intel Processor with at least 3.0 gHz

These are most important components for gaming and if you get these above (especially these in brackets) you'll be able to run PCM14 on highest settings. Just a little advice is to buy PC if you can, as the gaming PC is way cheaper than the gaming laptop. Smile

Nah, by far graphics card is more important. I have i7, and 8GB ram but shitty graphics card, so it's no use.

Not that I care about good graphics anyways, but...
