Seeing all of these recommendations in last few days, i got one pretty goo idea (actually remembered TMM's post from TMM and the competition where he got PCM13, more than half of year ago).
So, the title says it all, posibility to delete your own thread (not just posts). It would be really nice addition to the site. Any chance for this?

if you delete all the post you delete the thread
edit: given might not be possible with longer threads but long threads shouldn't be deleted anyways

Well, you can do it by editing your first post and 'ticking' the box 'delete the thread'.
Though the other posts will still be there.

I thought about completely deleting thread. I know that you can delete first post, but thread will still be there.
And you can't actually make people delete their post(s), just because you want thread to be deleted.

Why should other people have their posts deleted by OP?
baseballlover312, 06-03-14 : "Nuke Moscow...Don't worry Russia, we've got plenty of love to go around your cities"
Sarah Palin, 08-03-14 (CPAC, on Russian aggression) : "The only thing that stops a bad guy with a nuke is a good guy with a nuke"
Big thanks to jdog for making this AMAZING userbar!

I dont see why deleting a thread would be a great addition. Dont make a thread you are going to delete. There are times where you make a thread, but it ends up being redundant because there is already a similar one, but in that case it can just be locked etc.
Furthermore, it would get abused. If someone has a technical issue and is later resolved I guarantee atleast one person would end up deleting that thread, when it would be best served to remain on the site in case someone else has the same issue.
If its that important to someone, Im sure they can ask a mod to delete their thread

Offering thread starters the possibility of deleting entire threads, including other users' posts, is not a way we want to go.
You don't 'own' the threads you start and the posts in it. This is a community.
If you have reasons to have a thread deleted, contact an administrator. If you have the right reasons, it can be deleted. |
